Always loved North as a player. Absolutely gutted he is retiring- I always assumed we were witnessing a 150+ cap player and a guaranteed Welsh scoring record. Moreover, him getting to the end just rubs in that I am pushing into middle age now 😆 I will always remember fondly that 2013 Lions series and have a huge respect for the Wales side he was a part of. All best wishes in (Test) retirement to the lad from a long-suffering Scotland fan.

What a player. For a period he was literally unstoppable and could break the game single handedly. Absolutely petrifying seeing him get it in any space whatsoever as an England fan. All timer.

What impressed me most about North was his relentless defensive output. As you see in these highlights - he'd put so much pressure on the ball carrier and would frequently make 2-3 tackles in a row in the same passage of play before the rest of the defensive line got there.

At his best he really was some player between 2010-2015. Took some nasty head blows which seemed to affect him, but whether he was playing well or not, always seemed to score try's. My favourite North moment was actually the assist against Ireland in 2012 when he flattens O'Driscoll then offloads to Foxy to run over

Hoping there will be a club rugby highlights video as well. First one that springs to mind is a try for northampton, scored by Rory Hutchinson, made by North direct from kick off. He just ran rings around the entire exeter side. World class!

I remember that Welsh back line from I say 2011 to 2014 and the size and power of it spearheaded by north it used to cause my Ireland team a lot of problems I remember cause they were all massive over 6 feet I think except halfpenny but could all play and were fast and north was the danger man

Not the goat or even our best winger, but what a brilliant player. A legitimate consideration for a world XV between 2011 and 2014 then transformed into a lions calibre centre (likely test 13 in 2021 if not for injury). Modern great

For any position his try scoring record is exceptional, but to score that many at centre is ridiculous. It's a shame a player like North has had to live through the collapse of the sport in Wales and that his swan song was a horror show. Imagine how decorated a player he would've been had he been born elsewhere. I suppose at least he'll get to (hopefully) spend his last few years in France and therefore actually winning some games - he deserves it.

He’s been a fantastic player for Wales for a very, very long time, but let’s put aside recency bias and be serious about where he stands in all time terms for Wales. With all due respect to George, this video title is just a tiny bit disrespectful to the likes of Gareth, Barry, JPR, Cliff, Merv the Swerve, Benny, Nugget, AWJ, Shane and probably some others I’ve forgotten. Great, great player? Absolutely. Greatest of all time? No. Here’s wishing him all the best for his next steps, and it would be lovely if he could round things off in Australia next Summer.
