How I make prop templates

Hey Andrew, this video helped me a lot how to create templates, but I have 1 question. How do you make templates for armor? Please release a video for how to do that! Thanks!

what would be the best one to do a armor templates. i want to do a gears of war armor. was hoping you might have it on a list of things you are going to do but. if not i would like to know the best way to go about doing that. i like watching your videos and have done some of the props. i am new to doing this only been doing it off and on for a year.

find 3d models online, ormake them yourslef, then import them into a program called Pepakura and unravel the model in that :)

I am trying to make a template out of a sword (Urfael from Shadow of Mordor) but I cannot find any decent mentions in pics I could use.... Also my first prop, to mention that as well - could you give me a tip on how not to give up here? I'm running out of options on how to start crafting literally anything. I know I can do crafting just fine, it's just that I cannot make the start of the whole thing, rip me.

I have been trying to replicate how you do this but am having an issue. I created a template in Flash 8 and it saved is as a .fla but Photoshop doesn't recognize the file so I can't resize the template. Any suggestions?

Andrew do you need a special temperature for your glue gun so it doesn't melt the foam?

with EVA foam nope, but with Styrofoam yes, or use it within the first 15mins of being plugged in before the glue becomes lava XD

a good tutorial, the only thing I could point out is that you should look for accurate references - on this case Andrew used a picture of a 3d printed prop as a reference, which could be lacking detail or be poorly made. It's always best to use references from the original thing! :D

how do we take your A4 template to 8x11

If you use software like Adobe Photoshop, it'll automatically print the template in sections that, when cut out, line up to complete your template. It'll work out just fine, there's just the extra step of trimming the dead space between sections of the template and taping/gluing it together into one piece.

8'( only if you sold armor sets or made custom sets of halo armor for people.....I'd totally pay what ever you thought would be a fair price for a suit of halo armor plus a weapon of choice....I'm dying just watching your videos I've been watching them for a year or 2 now.....ur crazy good at making these things.

I use paint.net and GIMP 2 for mine i usaly just scale then so the handle fits my hand xD

I just use layers and scale it to the right size to fit my hand then draw it out using a projector on my wall or trace it out off my screen in parts
