Welcome to Space Engineers Survival on Pertam! In episode 8, we get to work on the base. We've been postponing setting up a proper refinery/assembler system for too long and it's time to fix that! So in this episode, we get to work finishing our refinery room, creating an assembler room, setting up proper containers, and of course wiring everything up with sorters.
If you like the video, be sure to leave comments and hit that like button! That's how I know to make more of these!

Hey, about your sorting systems, use ISYs inventory management script, you hook it on your base and it will manage all the ice and uranium in the vehicles when connected and also it drags all ore and and everything non essential out of those connected vehicles, and you can edit a bunch of stuff in the programming block, and you can also label containers so certain items go to certain containers like a ore container and so on, it would mean you wouldn’t have to use sorter blocks and you can watch the how to guide, it’s on the workshop page for the script, Hope this helps

So rural Washingtonian here, you can FEEL a bull frogs croak. Sounds like a demon water monster to the unknown listener. Also, the cascades control the different amphibian populations based on humidity so the Olympic national forest has a whole different amphibian atmosphere than the ones in my area which could be considered country toads. 😂 (Nerd Alert!)

That's awesome! I wonder if a country bull frog from your area would feel really out of place and weird if it were repositioned to say the Olympic national forest.

Do you want invasive species? Cause taking things out of their natural habitat and adding them to other habitats is how you get invasive species. (TBF this particular example probably doesn’t count as the two locations are close enough together that they could probably get there on their own, but still… just don’t, folks.)

Six assemblers with two speed modules each MULTIPLY your power requirements by a factor of eighteen. So, if an assembler uses 500 Kw of power, your setup requires 500*18, which is nine Megawatts. Do you have a nuclear reactor to provide that kind of power? EDIT: Checked the wiki, an assembler actually uses 560Kw of power, which makes matters worse.

I looked the dialect thing up cause I was curious- seems like most animals come with language presets. Scientists swapped some macaques at birth. They communicated slightly differently- one species cooed while playing, while the others “gruffed”. They didn’t switch to their adoptive parents way of doing it- they kept communicating in the way their species normally did. Interestingly, though, their parents had no trouble learning to understand them, despite the fact that they were essentially speaking different “languages”. It’s different for species with more complex communication. Dolphins, for example, have names. Experts can identify where a certain species of bird is from based on its birdsong, as there are regional variants. There’s also birds who have a rigid system of grammar- I’m unsure if they’re the same species of bird or not. The thing is, even if we humans can’t understand someone who speaks a different language in conversation, we could absolutely communicate basic survival needs. Hungry? Rub your stomach. Injured? Cradle the injured area. Danger? Wide eyes, insistent and fearful tone, point behind them, tense for a fight. These things are universal for a reason…

use the corner LCD block, but don't weld it up. it will provide the attachment point for stairs and hide perfectly underneath. Greeble's are all the pretty bitz once all the functional parts are done. for best results with assemblers. stand them on end so all upgrade ports are available all conveyors can be routed under the floor connecting each unit back to the refineries. another Conveyor system can be attached atop them feeding into a couple large storage containers for ready use that are also connected to the system going into the Hangar fitted with a sorter to screen out ores. salvaged materials will go straight into the storage unit. Assemblers should be maxed out with speed Modules. Refineries should have 1 speed Module and 3 Yield Modules to wring out every bit of use from the ores collected. more power needed. a lot more power! keep an eye out for downed ships as they have Nuclear Reactors aboard you can salvage to put into your base for added power needs. drones taken out may have small reactors and some U-235 in them. the Modular Encounters Spawner along with other enhancements like Surface Occupation, Abandoned settlements, Air Traffic, and Splitsie's Assertive Installations will generate loads of hostiles to make life interesting and all manner of sweet salvage. you may need a small flying scout ship to trigger the spawns, but such a craft isn't hard to build. the top of your Hangar can host a large solar grid on Rotors using Izzy's Solar tracking Script to get more power when you need it most. especially since your base is oriented east/west for sun tracking. Gunz!!! start planning Gun positions and get them built and supplied with bullets. use the Smart Turrets 2 mod to make sure your guns don't trash everything ruining any salvage possibility from downed drones. the Smart Turrets can be set to selectively target certain systems like Offensive Blocks and ignore everything else. once Drones have been defanged, you can fly up and down them with your grinder then clean up the wreck.

your assembler setup does look cool like that, I need to point out though that the conveyers connecting the junction to the top and bottom assemblers in the stack are irrelevant because they are already connected to each other because the way they are stacked :3 also wanted to ask about drones on pertam, I have had them on the entire time but I have not seen 1 enemy signal. do you, or anyone reading this, know whether they even show up on pertam? noticed you have discovered 1 enemy faction so it popped into my head

Are you talking about vanilla game drones? I don't think those show up on planets at all. Only out in space. If you want planet drones, you probably need to add a mod that handles that sort of thing. @@AndrewmanGaming I sometimes use neon corners to make 3+wide catwalk paths more interesting, by having the middle ones be one block lower and upside down, it brings variety and greeble to it and allows me to put things like freight crates on the catwalks, connecting them with the neon corners makes it almost invisible, while preserving the structural redundancy that would be lost if the catwalks were not connected. Ooo that would be cool! Scripting is pretty easy as long as you know basic programming. You just need to take a look at the API and some example scripts to get the gist. It's much harder if you don't have any programming experience. The scripting is done in C# as well.

@AndrewmanGaming
@AndrewmanGaming 3 жыл бұрын
@@MightyAssa There are two sides to coding in SE. First, there are ingame scripts like I did to change the color of an LCD. These are pretty simple to make but are also very limited in what they can do. You can only really interact with stuff already in the game. If you want a tutorial on ingame scripting, PandemicPlayground has a few pretty good ones that helped me. The second type of coding is modding, which is what the water mod is. Those are much less limited and can actually change the game by adding new stuff. I haven't seen many tutorials on that subject, but I'm sure they're out there. You just might have to search a bit.

Just an idea for the rover change the ladder to stairs
@AndrewmanGaming
@AndrewmanGaming 3 жыл бұрын
That was the original plan for that area, but I couldnt get the stairs to go low enough to hop on while not affecting the rover's ground clearance.

Assemblers can have upgrade mods put on all four sides, not just two sides.
@faguolvlv
@faguolvlv 3 жыл бұрын
yes. better to put them vertically with 4 modules.

How does it work on the side with only 1 module connection? Is it half the bonus of the other sides with 2 connections?
@devum5075
@devum5075 3 жыл бұрын
@AndrewmanGaming there is a second connection on those sides, it is hidden inside the access area that you would hook the conveyor into. There is a smaller square inside the larger one, that is for the upgrade module.
@AndrewmanGaming
@AndrewmanGaming 3 жыл бұрын
@@devum5075 Ohh ok, it's been hiding this whole time! I'll have to remember to use those in the future. For now I think the 2 modules per assembler is fine. It might be a bit slower than the optimal set up, but I can make up for that with just more assemblers.
