For me your lighting is what makes it - your talent to make the paintings almost 3D is amazing.

Another alternative to the grid method is to just project the image and chalk it on--but I paint in acrylic, and that's something to consider. I use an Artograph projector; this isn't an advertisement and they're actually kind of expensive, but you basically get the same result with less hassle. In any case, I love these tutorials. Andrew T. is the most versatile artist I've seen yet. My paintings have improved immensely. Thank you A.T.

as an animal artist, I highly appreciate the work of Andrew Tishler. His drawing, the ability to find the position of the bird, which is visible in its character, possession of color and brush - is the work of a talented artist. I wish you success and further development of the master.

Been painting for 30 years this channel is great. So strong in keeping to the basics, many things I simply have taken for granted and have grown careless with I have been reminded of while watching Andrew. Thank you so much.

This was amazing! I’m just starting a painting of a bald eagle that landed on a tree in our back field. He stayed for 20 minutes, so I got lots of pictures and even a sketch. Your tutorial helped so much....thank you!

Oh Andrew! Thankyou so much for this wonderful tutorial. In the 80's I visited Australia and saw these magnificent birds flying in the outback. Then, on the s!ow-moving Ghan, the train passed a wedge-tail feeding by the side of the track. I was literally feet away and when he saw me looking at him he 'hooded' his food with his wings- a typical raptor stance. Still my Number One wildlife experience! I have tears in my eyes remembering, and I am going to have to give this tutorial a go ASAP! Linda UK. PS would love a full tutorial to purchase. Many Thanks

I like that you include the processes that you've gone through to get to get this result. A lot of times, I am anxious to finish a piece as soon as I can, but the reality is that it takes time. Im enjoying the process as much as the end result.

Lovely Andrew! Nice to see the finished painting of Quil. Incidentally the white patches on Quil are not 'missing feathers' but rather a characteristic of Wedge-tailed eagles who have two distinctive white patches across the top of their wings. Its quite visible from a long distance away and may have a signalling function to other eagles. Cheers. Martin (Quil's human 'husband!')

Thank you Andrew...I have painted on Wedgetail at the moment in acrylics over a long period of time...some of the question that you raise in this tutorial are the same that I was faced with when I was in the process of the painting my picture..I really liked the discussion about the 3 dimensionality of the feathers on the wing and capturing the correct light angle and tone...Much appreciated....CHEERS

Beautiful painting! It's great to see your words in action as you mentioned that detail is an illusion accomplished by a few brush strokes and the viewer's brain fills in the pattern. I always need that reminder.

I have really enjoyed your explanations of why you are doing what you are doing. I too appreciate the need to loosen up and not go tight and detailed too soon. I love the use of the way you are using few colors and brushes and yet accomplish believable paintings. Thanks even us older painters can still learn and improve our work.

Thank you, once again, Andrew. I so look forward to seeing one of your tutorials appearing in my Inbox! Birds are among my favourite subjects, as well, and I've always used multiple photos to work out my compositions. I also love what you said about detail. People always remark on my 'attention to detail' and I can never explain to them that I don't really fuss with detail, it's all an illusion, it just LOOKS as if I've put in a lot of detail! Now I can use the word 'illusion'. xxx

Great subject, powerful statement. Beautiful painting. I wish I could paint everything I love about this world, and I wish I could help our friends with paws, claws, hooves, and fins by painting them. All artists should stick their brushes together and paint these amazing animals and make a statement across the world. Let us make a day for animals, where all artists in the world no matter medium they work with, paint an endangered spice, that could be so much fun.

Your approach to art is amazing. All the preparation you do, finding the best composition. I watch few painters here on youtube. They are perfect but you add touch of art to your paintings. I like the atmosphere of this painting. Such a dedidication to details. Your block in is good enough for most of people.

Every time I see your videos I am reminded how much I am in love with painting. Cant believe how lucky we are to have this. Thank you so much for your amazing content! I tried retouch varnish once on a painting with relatively thin layers that was about 4-6 months old. The blue in it got smeared all over, and so I havent deared to try again, but really want to now!

Great job as usual bonny lad. Like how you are becoming looser in your brush work. Had an impressionistic fest in the Met New York last week and was fully absorbed in how strokes viewed from a distance totally made the paintings. Even saw the Degas ballerina and thought about your horses head. Simply stunning mate.
