Hi Goncalo, EPS or XPS will not work with polyester resin. It must be epoxy resin or it will melt the foam. If you shape your board from polyurethane foam you can use polyester resin.

Local place that produces foam insulation for construction, they will custom cut blocks. Check your yellow pages for under insulation or foam. I do this instead of buying surfboard blanks because the shipping to Canada is crazy.

Is this the stringer & block we see in later videos? Did you put those two blocks together then added a wooden guide on the sides for the hot wire?

hi, First thanks for sharing this video with everyone! what glue did you use? I have glued mu hand plane but the glue that I use foamed up to much and it was a pain to level it out when sanding.

I would just add that on my glue-up of the stringer, I had to reverse each of the ratcheting tie-down straps. Otherwise all the tension was on one side of the foam blocks. The straps didn't pull evenly on both sides as I tightened them. Now I know...

I use 1.8LB/ft3 or 2.0LB/ft3 EPS, it is foam they use for construction insulation.

Hi Andrew its a very high density, is easier to sanding and to do a good smooth surface.

what was that spray that you put over the glue?

The spray is a simple mist of water. Polyurethane glue cures faster and expands when in a moisture rich environment.
