Holy crap I just realized that Eighter (Android 8) taught Goku about restraint because Goku wanted to defeat an enemy that was weaker than him due to their actions and outlook, Eighter showed him that you don't always have to solve things by fighting. Then when Goku's son was in a fight against an enemy who he wanted to defeat due to their actions and outlook that was weaker than himself he lacked the will to finish his opponent because he had too much restraint and feared dealing out the punishment. Then Android 16 (another 8 iterations on Eighters design) taught Gohan that it's Okay to let go and use all of your force if it's to protect yourself others, and that you don't always have to fear using your strength for good. Also, I would like to add that the animation was so fluid @3:57 with the way they seamlessly rotate General White and Goku. I love shots like that or alternatively when the camera swings around focused on the characters in the center then comes to a rest behind our protagonist before letting the scene breath for a second as the audience anticipates who will strike first or have their moves land true.

People talk about Goku learning mercy from eighter but there’s also a bit of “it’s not a sin to fight for the right cause” from Goku to eighter. This was also shown in his intro with Murasaki. Baris was right: Cue the connection to Android 16 and Gohan in DBZ. Also 2:52 Goku with the “maybe you should exercise” 😭😂

General White sounds like Watto from Star Wars, especially when he says “the boy or the old man” reminds me of when he’s talking to Qui Gon and he says “the boy or his mother.”

You guys were on point which is why you and Madison are one of my favorite DB contents. Yes, not only that Eighter and 16 are similar but also Gohan too. I love the role reversal that is going on in this episode and The Cell arc meaning when Goku got shot in the back from General White, Eighter embraces himself to fight similar that The Cell arc in Z where is a reversal that 16 tells Gohan (Goku's son) to embrace yourself survival instincts to fight Cell in order to protect the Earth. Toriyama is an underrated genius than what people give him credit for

Besides, don't forget he is very hungry and his tail was shaked so Goku is weak as this point. If you asked for the General White he's dead, like all the soldiers in the tower. 12:55 Goku was shot in the back of the head, it's like someone hit him really hard behind the neck. That's why Goku passed out. The bullet doesn't kill him, but if it hits him behind the head, he'll pass out.

But on the other hand, he learned from Vegeta, Beerus and Whis that kind of mercy could cost him like it almost did with Frieza. Vegeta had to teach him the harsh reality there were some enemies that didn't deserve favors like the Ginyu Force, who enjoyed doing what they do or Frieza himself, who delights in causing pain and misery and relished in it.

Some of these commentators are mistaken. Eighter may have introduced the concept of showing mercy to Goku but it was only during his training with Kami that he learned proper restraint. Prior to this, he has been shown to kill when the opportunity presents itself, especially when faced against certain antagonists.

The thing about Suno and Goku, maybe she liked Goku but even at this point of time goku couldn't differentiate between men and women easily so liking or loving someone was way too ahead for goku And even if he doesn't know that (and us) A true Saiyan only loves the strong woman, Suno was way too kind

I believe that in the US they got DBZ first on tv and much later than in the rest of the world where most people watched DB first in the late 80s and early 90s followed by DBZ. That's why most US youtubers react to DBZ first, many have/had never even watched the first half of the story like Baris, which is kind of weird since he seems to be a huge Dragon Ball fan. Plus DBZ is way more popular with all the supersaiyan stuff, which means more views for their reactions, if they had reacted to DB first their channel would probably not be as popular as it is.
