Why don't they apply all these things in the original version of android?! Having a powerful phone doesn't mean you want to burn your storage quickly or your data plan or having poor optimised apps!

Fluidity will not be there in the go apps as much as the normal ones. Plus it will cut down on all styling and material design(thing that makes the app look cool) to save space. It given the option always go for normal apps they are optimised.

@@ruzanpithawala9052 as someone that writes software, I can assure you, most software is far from optimised. And it is a downward spiral, getting worse and worse and worse. An 8bit game console was quite fluid from yesteryear. High density displays do add a burden.

@@mrdespondency6598 I know, there are old websites from say 2008 that are snappy as hell now while new websites are slow due to all the graphical filtering, all the Java scripts loading etc. (I am mostly reffering to relic websites that haven't changed much over time)

Android oreo lacks features newer versions have, it is lighter but honestly that's like comparing chrome OS to windows 10, windows 10 may have more problems, but the sheer amount of compatibility and options a light operating system can't afford is honestly just a plus for most phones which have a good processor

Well on my Galaxy S5 and Galaxy A8 2015 both with 16gb of storage, both versions of android marshmallow takes up only 4.37GB of storage. It's only that when you get 32gb of storage or more that you see the system file portion grow like crazy.

Even higher end devices can benefit from using Google go apps.. Using the native file explorer app isn't always the best option and I found devices like galaxy-s7 and s9+ are blazing fast utilizing GO apps. But really I think the biggest factor is the domino effect going the route of GO, with bandwidth saving across the board, and being able to bring life into old electronics, is really just two ways to help in a major way, and it can help so many people down the line.. I have a tablet from 2012 that seriously feels a hell of alot more new than it was, and just by adding as many GO apps as I could

ShadowDrift some of us like fine grain control and lots of features and more customization , and i would say given the sales figures we can see which platforms are more popular , clearly vanilla android is 2nd place on and the ladder , and a long way down that ladder .

Nice brief explainer. Can I install normal apps? If I install an alternative browser, will this work as per usual? I find most irritation/slowdown caused by adverts. I have Opera Touch on a full-weight Android Oreo phone, and although it occasionally crashes, in the most part it is much faster to use because of the built-in advert blocker. I moaned to a simple web forum, that standard posts/pages were weighing in at 100MB for a single page load! On a limited data plan, that's a killer. So any advice for browsers that block images/videos/adverts by default would be welcome. What does Chrome Go strip out?

Thanks Garry very useful video i did have the lenovo tablet 3 10.1 until few days ago its developed a fault stuck in boot loop[ wont boot up corretlt or turn on just shows lenovo home screen, so im a bit put off spending loads on a lenovo tablet now ,so i was thinking of buying the cheap 7 inch tablet which has android oreo go so do you think i would be happy with that choice ?

Luis Comic It would make more sense to not release a phone every year at the same time and take more time to optimize the software like Google did before they released the first Pixel or what One Plus does. Manufacturers like Samsung or else have lots of work to do on that

Wasnt this idea of a more compact, reverse compatable, "older device" compatable THE Buzz about KIT KAT? AND the wifi file sharing stuff... Have you not used Ex File Explorer? I think Astro does that too. Samsung has Wifi Direct. It seems that nothing is new, just reskinned and advertised/marketed as a "New Awesomeness".

Why not Android Go every smartphone? I mean, every smartphone would became faster, with better battery life, better RAM management, and...all in all, it would be (I guess, why not?) a good way to keep stuff sturdy! Ed that's just wasted space.phones storage is severly limited in tegards to pc storage....the whole reason for this is just for lower end phones... Because it'll help them perform better.. if you want better performance out of your high end phones their are multiple ways to go about doing so... And I'm pretty sure you could get this through some rom onto any phone you want.

Ops! You've missed the notification access issue. The Notification Access feature is absent in Go Edition phones. So, some apps become useless. Like showing your phone's notifications on PC is not possible if notification access is not accessible. :-(

the moment i heard few countries have no internet properly. I was like "Really? In India with JIO network Data is like water right now'" i have seen people using there phone only upto 32gb per month by paying only 499Rs(7.59USD). Like literally! :P

That's great and all but... This should've been done about 3 years ago, in 2018 even most low end phones run fairly ok on stock android, at least until users start adding Facebook and other crap that sits in the background 24/7 and start slowing it down.

Also feel as I should point out several of those features mentioned aren't anything new, for example back in 2013 when the Moto G was "the" phone that everybody wanted, the 8GB model had 4GB of free space for user data and chrome has had that data saver pretty much forever.

I have Android 10 Go in Nokia and it's boring. Some features are disabled like 'display over other apps' , access for notification badge... I had low-end phone before , quadcore , 1Gb RAM, running android 5.1 it's faster.
