I’ve had both the 12.9 IPad Pro and the S9 Ultra. I’m deep in the Apple ecosystem but I bought the S9 Ultra out of curiosity thinking I would return it. The S9U is just so good I sold the iPad. I never noticed a speed difference and was blown away by how powerful Android is and the ‘slow compared to an iPad’ snapdragon chip handled it like a champ.

I will say it again I don't think tech now was never meant to switch over to the next generation for little improvement. Or a major upgrade from the previous generation of last year tech. It's supposed to buy it if you have an outdated tech and you want something new at that time. For example, I bought the Samsung 10.1 tab A in the year 2019. Last year, I wanted a bigger screen, so I got the s8 ultra tab , which was big and an upgrade improvement from my previous tablet. I think tech has so much better technology inside of it, memory, storage , processer, etc. compared a decade ago where you need to upgrade to the next generation but not anymore. S9 series will fade out like the s8 series, etc. So in the next couple of years, it will be s11 and s12 and so on. Is to buy it now if you have an outdated tech at that time you need it. But if you don't, then don't buy it. So I,m keeping my s8 ultra tab probably won't upgrade until the s12 or s13 ultra tab then I will see an upgrade or major improvements over the s8 ultra tab. I wait until several generations to see a difference. That's my 2 cents. Lol. Ps. I'm watching this on my s8 ultra tab.

I do tend to agree with you. But financially speaking, trade-ins do change that. You keep your device for more years, but it's also worth less for every year you keep it. If they are offering $650 this year but they only offer 350 next year, you could really go either way. Yes, upgrading less overtime will save you money. But upgrading more, and getting better trades (especially when they are paying you over the used value on eBay). Trading earlier has advantages. That's why I mentioned for myself, it's not the best value to upgrade to the S10 Ultra from the S9 ultra, the S8 Ultra is sort of a toss-up, but the older models, it might be time for some of those people

Yes so far in my testing it's better. Not a massive jump but it's a jump. 7 years of os updates. A minor jump in performance. And a new anti reflective screen. That's the difference between last year and this model

Dear. With my Tab S10+ and regarding its battery, I've noticed that every 6 minutes with the brightness at 60% and volume at 50%, the battery reduces approximately 1%. Do you consider it to be within a normal range?

This will be a pretty nice jump up. 120 HZ, a really nice performance jump, water resistance, and it sounds like you definitely need that water resistance 😂😂. Plus the anti-reflective screen. Sounds like a nice jump up for you And I didn't even mention the screen size jump to the Plus model. If you get the ultra, that will be a monster. But the plus model will be a nice jump up without compromising all the portability

You are going from 4 years of updates, with 1 year already passed, to 7 years if you get the plus. You're missing an anti reflective screen, and you are missing a slight bump in performance. Also the regular S9 is a little smaller. If you find a crazy sale on the s9 series it's a better value. BUT if it's just $100 to $200 more. The S10 series may be better

Well simply put, if you want the best tablets, yes. Feel free to check my initial reviews I dropped. But these tablets are amazing. The best on Android. Again the only big difference between the in Plus and Ultra is screen size, 300 nits of brightness extra on the ultra, and a second front facing camera on the ultra. The Ultra is massive, 14.6 inches, bigger then most laptops. And if you buy the keyboard case, it costs more, AND it's bigger. If you buy the $350 keyboard case with a touchpad remember it magnetizes to the back and had a kickstand to hold up the transfer AND the keyboard. So on a desk for example it takes up more room than a laptop on a desk because of the extra kickstand space it needs. It's light, but because it's so big, picture what it is like to hold the ultra, at 14.6 inches, by one side. It's like holding a laptop by the corner or side. It's just too big for that. If I have a presentation I can hold the Plus comfortably on my side and hold it by the side. The ultra is just harder to hold with one hand. But, it's a lot of extra screen real estate . A massive screen for movies or for drawing. The Plus is smaller, intended to give you a mix of portability, but still give you a large screen. The keyboard cover isn't backlit but it is big enough to actually give a full sized keyboard. 12.4 inches isn't small. The biggest iPad is 13". So a lot of people will want to save the $200 and get a more portable device that is still big. And you will get pretty much all of the same features. Some will want the largest screen possible for drawing or movies, and that extra front facing camera. It depends on who you are. Watch both of my initial reviews of the Ultra and Plus for more info

Since it’s your first tablet then the newest version is not a bad choice. However if you want to save a few bucks then the previous generation is probably the way to go. The next question is what size screen. If you want an eleven inch then it has to be the S9.

Reflection of overhead lighting is a daily issue, so an antireflection screen would be quite nice. Unfortunately S10 not available for pre-order here in Australia yet.

I get the argument you're making. If someone only has enough money to buy 1, many should buy a laptop, also agree. It's very complicated. There's no doubt the iPad will have more power. But it won't be super noticeable. And ESPECIALLY if you want more storage, the ability to put an sd card in, plus getting the s pen in the box, all of this makes the tab s9 a much better value. But it's not a better tablet. I'd say the m4 is a little better. But you'd have to buy the pen separately. And it will cost a little more

The iPad is better for gaming; that is objective. For note-taking, I would say Samsung, as their S-pen has lots of tricks, but the iPad also does a good enough job. If you are keeping for a long time then no-brainer the M4 iPad as its OLED lasts twice as long and the M4 chip is future-proofing your device for years to come. If you upgrade more regularly, then this is not so important.

Can you do a brightness comparison? I understand that one screen is anti-glare but what about the NITs? Any noticeable visual difference? When we use them in the car the only way you can see the s9 in the daytime Is when the sun is directly on the camera and the brightness increases to maximum. There's no way to keep it that bright, and therefore it's basically unusable in indirect sunlight.

Hi, I need others opinion. Right now I do not have a tablet and I'm thinking what to do. I want a samsung tablet as I have the s23 ultra phone and galaxy6 watch, so you know, stay in the ecosystem. But I don't know which tablet should I buy: S9 (other vesrions are really difficult to get in my country) / S10+ / S10 Ultra. I'm a person that is using the tablet mostly for reading/watching, but I want to start my journey with drawing, as I'm planning to start graphic design program next year. I'm leaning more towards the new version with 512gb (and free keyboard), but then still don't know which version, like what exactly would be the difference beside the price and size?

There's one extra front facing camera on the Ultra. That's about it. They both have sd card slots so you could always get less storage and just get an sd card. Not everything can save to the sd card but a lot of apps that have media or movies will allow you to go into their app settings and change the save location to the sd card. The Ultra has a bigger screen though. That's really what you are paying for. The only difference MAY be brightness levels. 930 nits for the ultra, 650 for the plus. But it's hardly noticeable. No other real differences. Different battery sizes but the screen will drain more battery on the plus so it evens out. Hopefully this helps

I think it's great for drawing. In fact, the stylus storage is far better, it magnetizes to the back OR the top. You can cover it up with a case. A lot of people would argue the newesr iPad cases are better and they probably are, but that Samsung ones will hide the stylus on the back where it can recharge. Samsung also has cool ai features. It's pretty close. But personally I like it. I do recommend iPads to people too. I wouldn't intentionally lead you wrong. But do remember I'm a terrible artist 🤣🤣 so take my opinion with a grain of salt

The really repelling thing here is Mediatek chipset. Very bad for gpu tweaking and everything. And you since we are talking about performance mediatek is really unreliable because of thermal throttling as well. I'll not upgrade till they bring back snapdragon to their flagship tablets... I think you're far better off getting a 1 terabyte SD card and going with the cheaper tab s10 ultra. But you do whatever makes you happy. I don't think most people will notice that extra ram and I think you can get your storage a cheaper way and still experience the tablet pretty much the same everyday. But hey, these tablets are awesome and if you want the best of the best, that's going to be the best way to go is to get the one terabyte model I guess

In the UK, trading in the Tab S9 Ultra gets you £400, which is an £800 hit in 12 months. No sane person who cares about money will do that, as the S10 Ultra is barely an upgrade. Also, it is £1550 for the 16GB version, so it is shockingly expensive for a Samsung tablet. So I cannot imagine many people upgrading from the S9 unless they are well off. As for upgrading from the Tab S8U, there are minimal gains. Most people use these indoors, so water resistance and antiglare are moot. Again trade-in sucks so easy pass.

Is this $400 better? No. Is it $370 better? No. Is it $250 better? Maybe. If an anti reflective screen and 7 years of software updates and a small performance boost is worth it. You made a good choice for value. If you get dissatisfied return before your return period is over, otherwise, enjoy it. It's a great purchase for that price.

Thanks so much! Yeah, this Medatek device should be a big upgrade for you. Pretty massive! I think you will really enjoy the S10 Plus. Just remember, you can always get the 256GB and then get an sd card! You can't save everything to the sd card, but most apps that download offline media let you specify where to save the media. You can often find cheap sd cards too on amazon. So just some advice from my perspective.

I mean I plan to get an S10+ (I never had any Tablet before) to have it as an e-reader and to watch Netflix on it, because the anti-reflection could be a key-factor but I more likely probably get either an S9FE+ or an S9+ since I just got into e-reading and would be a waste of money to get an S10+ if I wouldn't really use the entire tablet (meaning I wouldn't use it for work nor to draw, nor to play games) so the S9FE+ will probably be enough since reading on phone was the most concerning thing, I need a bigger screen, and even if its LCD, that will be more than enough since I was able to get lost in a book even with an A34 it just that it doesn't feel the right reading experience.

I'm someone who currently owns the very old/ ancient Samsung galaxy tablet SGT S6 lite for around and about 3.5-4 years and my tablet is starting to show its age as it has some lite damage and and its definitely time for an upgrade but honestly idk if I should upgrade now or like 7 months from now as I'm not in a rush to upgrade and I can wait 7 months max if I wait let's say 5.5 months then should I buy a used one as it would be less expensive or wait until around Christmas BC there will most likely be boxing day deals for a new fresh tablet As for which of the 10 series tablets i would get Im most likely gonna go with the S10 plus BC I'm not rich and have to buy a like 100$Cad case separately and the trade in deal for my tablet isn't the best at between $516-$540 CAD I am personally looking forward to upgrading BC like everything improves/ upgrades for me or anyone who ones one of these ancient relics and I do use my tablet everyday for hours

You definitely don't need it. I will say the processor is a lot more efficient as you go along. So the battery life will definitely be a big improvement. You're also going to get a lot better performance going up to generations and you're going to get the anti-reflective screen. You don't need it. But it's okay to upgrade and get rid of what you have.

You won't love my answer but my answer is "I think so". Luma Fusion is the best video editing program in my opinion on Android. I tried it with the Tab S9 Plus and I had mixed results. I imported my 4k footage and created proxy files. And then started editing. It worked great. But towards the end of the project it started to slow down. I do 10 to 15 minutes videos with a roll and b roll. All 4k footage. But my 4k footage is from my Sony camera. I truly believe that if I used 4k footage from a phone things would have went better and it would have been smoother. But I think the format I used slowed things down. If you do shorter videos than me, less b roll, (video on top of you talking) OR if you're using videos from your phone, I believe in all of those situations you'll probably have a smooth experience overall.

I will just use my phone (I’m about to buy S24 Ultra and record 4K) and edit on Tab S10 Ultra. I don’t really need a professional Sony camera or something 😅. But most of time I will use it to write some mails, listen music or this kinda stuff. That’s why I will prefer to have a bigger screen. A new MacBook Pro or iPad Pro 13” with pencil and keyboard will be around 2000€ and this is for me as a student a lot of money. Would you say, that everything is going to work smoothly and without any problems?

I would. I think you will enjoy it. You can quick share files too between them. You can set it up to get your messages on the tablet. You can use your phone hotspot to quickly share with your tablet. I think it will be a great experience.

It depends on if you want to go to the new market or the used market. The used market will have a lot of great Tab S9, S9 Plus, or S9 Ultra. If you're buying new, prime day sales are in a couple days. You may save like $200 going with something from the s9 lineup but you'll also have some compromises compared to the newer models. It's a toss up. The newer models also get 7 years of os updates. It really depends on what you want. Personally if I was starting fresh. I'd pull a fast one on Samsung. I'd look at the trade in deals. If they offer $650 for a s8 ultra I'd find one on eBay for $450 or $500. From a reputable seller in good condition. And I'd trade it in for $650 to Samsung to get a little bit extra off the newer models. (This may only apply in the US, where trades are better). Or I'd just consider going with a s10 model due to the updates. BUT if you really really want a great deal and you are more about value, maybe check the used market, or check prime day deals coming tomorrow and the next day. I'm sure you'll see some s9 Plus and Ultra discounts and the s9 series is still great

That's completely okay! The S8 Ultra is still great today and I believe you've got a couple of years of updates left, so there's some time. I'm seeing display charges + 2 generations of processors, more brightness, water resistance, I think there's a lot there, but it may not be worth it to you. Even with the good trade in deal it's not worth it to everyone, I get that. Sometimes the best thing to do is stick with what you have, don't blame you if that is your decision. I think S8 owners should CONSIDER but ultimately it's your call

This is very true. No doubt. Dexnor made an alternative, and honestly the keyboard section of it is amazing. The touchpad is iffy but if you can use a Bluetooth mouse it's amazing. At least for the S9/S10 Plus (it will fit the same case). I get you though. I used to think Samsung's way of doing keyboards is better but I enjoy the magic keyboard style more than I expected

Qualcomm modems are very expensive. It costs Apple $8 billion annually, so Samsung may not be far away. Apple is trying to develop their own modem as feeding a rival like Qualcomm is bad business, and I assume Samsung had to keep costs down, hence Dimensity and no 5G. Even though they charge extra, the costs probably still exceed how much they charge consumers.

Very true. I'm seeing a lot of hate on this tablet for some reason, but we see very minimal upgrades every year and a lot of these people will also upgrade their phones. Sure, it's not the best value to upgrade from the tab S9 Ultra to the tab S10 ultra, but it's honestly not that bad of a value either. Even if it's a minor upgrade though, I was finding it crazy that people were saying it's a terrible deal to upgrade from the S8 series. But these tablets are actually a pretty decent jump from that. Apple uses higher quality parts and you can see that by looking at the products in person. If you want to judge on specs tho that's cool to with android but all of my apple products have far outlasted any android or windows I ever had.
