Just bought the 14 inch one last Friday and I’m a use it for college all my college stuff is gonna be on a browser so I’m sure everything‘s gonna work fine. I am thinking about doing some video editing which I hear this laptop will do very well and I’m gonna be going on a long plane ride so I’m probably gonna have to bring a power bank so I can watch movies and stuff but so far this laptop has been doing great for me. The battery life also last 8 to 9 hours which is great for what I’m doing. I don’t know why they advertise it as 20 hours, but eight hours is fine for me. I do recommend got mine for $899.

Davinci Resolve has a "free" version with all the features you will need anyway. It's a lot to learn. But it works great once you get used to moving around. You can also create "proxies" and then the program has a way to select to "prefer proxies" so your preview window uses the proxies. So if you have 4k footage and you make a proxy it will make it like a quarter of the resolution and stuff so you can edit easier, then when you export it uses the main files to keep the quality.

Just make sure you carefully download NOT davinci studio, but the free version, and make sure you download one that works with arm, it may do that automatically, but sometimes programs have different versions and you have to pick the arm one

Great review! You're honestly my favorite review channel. I find a lot of the "big" reviewers to be kind of out of touch with the regular, everyday people out there looking for decent tech at a good price. You are the opposite of out of touch! Again, great job!

Awesome info i use Duet 5 for everything, considering either a nice tablet or laptop to do video editing

For sure. If you use DaVinci specifically this can do pretty good. Or pretty much any of the Snapdragon laptops. But a lot to learn with a new program.

Samsung has launched the Intel version of the Galaxy Book 5 Pro 360 for pre-order. It’s a significantly better device overall, with fewer compromises. While the Intel version costs £200 more (current retail prices), it offers a much improved GPU, a 360-degree display with pen support, and Intel’s claimed 25 hours of battery life. Additionally, it has a better NPU, no app incompatibility, eGPU support, no blocked bootloader, and more. Considering these features, a premium 16-inch Galaxy Book seems to be a much better recommendation. I also assume that a 14-inch Intel version will be released soon. As for discounts, this applies to Intel in due course.

I hear what you're saying. But again, at least in the US, you're talking about getting this for only $899. Even less open box. It all depends on your use case. I think a lot of people are okay with a little less compatibility, because they will still get a really great device. I would also expect the Snapdragon devices to get better and better over time with updates. But honestly for me, outside of not being able to play games with auntie cheat software, every app I use has worked, even my printer works. Much of a hit. And I personally will save a lot more money compared to the other Galaxy book, so for me I'm staying put. But I get why someone else would want the Intel version. I do think it's going to be a little bit better overall, for now

@@AndroidDigest Samsung is very price sensitive in the US so you get a lot of good deals. Sadly, in the UK the differential between the two is much closer so it is easier to choose the Intel. But I agree, the snapdragon is value in the US.

I much prefer the Surface Laptop 7 and would recommend it over this, especially the 15-inch version. In office work, the IPS panel provides at least 2-3 hours of extended battery life, significantly more than the Edge’s. The Surface keyboard is superior to the Edge’s, and the haptic trackpad on the Surface makes the Edge feel like a joke. Additionally, IPS panels have improved so much that I don’t notice OLED as much as I did in the early days. The Surface can easily be bought on eBay for £500 off, so comparable in price.

I hear you there. Overall, I do think the Surface laptop is a better overall package, But for me, I think a huge thing to think about is value for a lot of people, and sales. Compared to the 15 inch or the X Elite version, you are saving significantly more, in the US, on the Book4 Edge because we're seeing it for hundreds less on the regular. $899 brand newm You can also get this on eBay for like $750 in the US. And at least here. We're not really seeing a lot of sales on the surface laptop. My point is, all of these devices seem to have their place. Especially if you're doing office work or some lighter video editing, you will have a very good experience as long as you're using the right programs. At 899, it's one of the better values. And one of the better overall packages, even if it's not perfect. I guess that was a big part of my point. It doesn't mean it's the best. But it is a pretty good value

@@AndroidDigest yes it is a bargain at that price but as I do a lot of typing, so I do prefer a decent keyboard and will pay a bit extra for that.

I've owned multiple Book 4 Edges and Surface Laptop 7s and now am sticking with the 4 Edge 1TB 16 inch. It has less reflection in the sunlight, and I actually prefer less force that is needs for typing. Touchpad though on the SL7 is much better, but I use a mouse anyway.

Another downside of the Book4 Edge is the lack of options for 32GB of RAM or higher than 1TB. This limitation could be a deal-breaker for many users. Considering that AI is likely to consume 3-5GB of RAM, and the iGPU probably uses 2-3GB, you’ll likely hit swap space faster than on a non-AI device. A 32GB version would have been particularly useful for users who push the RAM usage. However, external storage is a simple solution to address the lack of >1TB of storage.
@AndroidDigest
@AndroidDigest 3 ай бұрын
Well I'm not seeing a lot of 32 GB options. It seems like the target audience is for those people who want an amazing laptop for office work, so I'm not seeing a lot of high ram models. I was able to edit 4K footage on DaVinci pretty easily. So I do think the 16 will be good for most people. But yeah, if you're thinking about 32 GB of RAM so I do think the 16 will be good for most people. But yeah, if you're thinking about 32 GB of RAM, you will have to look elsewhere
@andyH_England

@@AndroidDigest you can get 32GB on the surface laptop seven but it is extremely expensive and I couldn’t justify that. Lenovo have upgrade options for 32GB so there are some available for those that need it.

Awesome video and insight. Am really rooting for the windows on xelite laptops. Glad you were able to use it for video editing. What was your experience cos i'm thinking of getting the 16inch version of the laptop

The one negative of the 16-in, I will tell you this, the one negative is that the touchpad is so large, in the spot to rest. Your wrist is so large, that you might end up digging your arms into the bottom of the laptop. That's the thing I heard when I watched the review from the tech chap. Keep that in mind on the 16". Video editing was pretty solid. Overall. I use 4K footage. I made proxies of all my footage, I preferred to use the proxies in DaVinci, at that point it was all pretty smooth. I did my a-roll, I did my b-roll, and after that is when I did color correction. Doing color correction or audio correction did cause some occasional freezes and I had to restart a couple of times. But by that point I was already so far into the project, like 95% done, so I just had to finish up at that point. Sure, we will get more driver updates to help things. But for now it did really well. I should also add that I edited from an external SSD because I just have a lot of footage. But that worked just fine too, using the crucial x9 Pro. Just remember that each Snapdragon laptop has different pros and cons. Some have more key travel, others have slightly bigger batteries, and other devices have a better screen. And some upgradable storage or more storage. It depends on what you want. And for me price was one of the biggest factors, plus a good screen. But there are a TON of great Snapdragon laptops out there. So hope you find a good one

@AndroidDigest
@AndroidDigest 3 ай бұрын
It really does depend on who you are. As long as you know that the apps you're going to use will work, I think it's a terrific laptop for that price. It's super thin, it's got pretty good battery life, it only gets a little warm because it's so darn thin. And the screen is absolutely incredible. The performance is amazing too. You just have to realize that it's not meant to play most games. And also, the keyboard is a little shallow on the travel. If you're okay with that, it's an amazing device.. one of my favorite laptops and I think it's really good for $850. I tell people all the pros and cons, I do try to help people, that's my main aim. But if you do end up deciding to buy, feel free to use my link in the description, hopefully you will bring up the app so you can buy through the app. That helps to support my channel. If not, just buy it the cheapest way for you and forget about me 🤣. Enjoy it

11:00 well.. not exactly. Zen 5 has basically completely invalidated the existence of the x elite. And I am not saying this because I particularly dislike Qualcomm, I welcome more competition to the CPU space. But Microsoft is already incapable of making Windows a coherent experience as it is, what makes you think that'll change with them having to support multiple architectures? ARM isn't the second coming of Christ and won't solve things like Windows' broken sleep or poor update management.
