"Amazing Grace" is a Christian hymn published in 1779 with words written in 1772 by English Anglican clergyman and poet John Newton (1725-1807). It is an immensely popular hymn, particularly in the United States, where it is used for both religious and secular purposes.
Inspired by Andre Rieu's version.

One of the most precious moments as a teacher was when a little8 year old black boy who was often in trouble volunteered to sing this song when our pipers bagpipes broke during our Remembrance day Assembly.....God sent us an angel to sing that day..

This is exactly the way this most special and most moving song should be played. Start with the penny whistle, then bring in the pipes and drums, and let the orchestra slowly swell in support. As a retired USA police officer, I witnessed so much hate. This was beautiful to watch so many diverse people have one thing in common. The love of music. I suffer from PTSD and I felt emotional peace after watching this Twice. We may all come from different countries, cultures and back grounds, however we all need to unite and spread love to one another. This world would be so much more healthier if we all can be humanitarians.

I used to cry every time I heard this. Because I thought it reminded me only of the military members in my family that have passed on. But now when I heard it tonight, I realize the true meaning behind this song. That whatever pain we feel when we lose someone we love, and whatever pain they were in before they passed, is eclipsed fully and will never be as big as the joy and happiness we will all feel when we go to heaven to be with God face to face. Even the pain we feel is a gift from God in a way, because if it were not for our ability to cry and feel pain, how would we have the ability to smile and enjoy the few key moments that make life worth living?

I'm a fireman with 40 years on the job and I still get teary-eyed when I hear the pipes play that song. It is tradition to be played at fighfighters' funerals. Unfortunately I've buried my father and too many friends and listened to it being played

There are very few things that bring me to tears repeatedly: seeing our heroes being carried back home at Dover AFB, watching astronauts blast off from Earth to the heavens, and hearing the pipes play Amazing Grace. I have many recordings of different piper bands play this exquisite ballad and this is the best of them.
