After 33 years on the air, Meteorologist Andy Avalos retired from NBC Chicago. To commemorate his retirement and years of service to the community as a beloved local celebrity, The Salvation Army Metro Division created a special thank you message. Over the years, Andy bundled up and rang bells for The Salvation Army each Christmas Season, fundraising $20,000! The impact Andy has made with Salvation Army in Chicago is immeasurable, but here's what those fundraised dollars meant for those in need:
🔔 Fed 10,000 hungry Chicagoans
🔔 Kept 20 families in their homes
🔔 Provided food, beverages, and support to 8,000 disaster survivors
🔔 Brightened the holidays for countless families
