That destroked 340 runs then down on the straight aways...

It truly is historic to see MOPAR enter a new car & a new engine to run against the "OVER-REFINED" and RIPE Chevy's & Ford's. It really was not fair to handicap those awesome Dodge & Plymouth cars as the sound of these engines is far superior to the Ford's & Chevy's. Brilliant Chrysler just incredible & awe-inspiring.

Great video! I would like to see a view laps around the Lime Rock Trans-am track if it's available! I own a Burnt Orange AAR produced a day before my birthday March 12, 1970 #275444

Lime Rock is GREAT FUN. My first new car was a Burnt Orange '70 'CUDA 340-4 speed, took delivery in Dec '69.

What is the small red shifter next to the regular 4 speed shifter?
@rmhdsn2846 жыл бұрын
Most likely a reverse lockout or the reverse shifter itself, depending on how it's built.

he is geared too short for a track so gigantic. It;s obvious he takes no chances with this car, and he shouldn't... there's only TWO of these things on the planet.

gotta be honest...the ONLY thing I remember hearing about back in those days...seeing that I didn't really follow Trans Am racing much was more of a stock car guy...was Mark Donahue and Javelins winning, winning, winning. I had never heard of MOPAR Trans Am drivers Dan Gurney or Sam Posey until I bought my AAR and learned the history of the cars. Guess they were not real competitive thus Chrysler's quick departure from the sport.

As far as i remember its the stock 4 sp. But i can be wrong I've driven Dans cars at Chrysler. The incredibly radical 305 was to hard to drive or steer around the complex. I was vary new there and nobody knew i could drive, i crawled in after the last driver gave up and drove off like it was a normal street car, (with a broken power steering pump) that open the door for me to drive everything we had. My honorable discharge got me the best job ever.

How did we ever lose car sales to those Toyota clowns with their sign on that bridge? Ever driven a 1970 Toyota? Ugh!
