There are plenty of coke addicts and alcoholics today, you are romanticizing him, but he was an addict, it doesn't make him a bad person, but it does not make him better than modern guys either.

I always liked this song from when it was first released in 1981. Andy Gibb did it well here. He was so young when this had been done. It would be nice for him to have gone on longer than he had. Dionne Warwick and Cheistopher Cross made a duet out of this song on "Solid Gold" in early 1986. I was wondering if you have that video, Michael. Whether as a solo like here and the Christopher Cross original, or as a duet like the previously mentioned, the song was a winner and is a classic.

I’m not sure if I have the duet version I did of this for Christopher and Dionne but, if I do, it will appear here at some point! In the meantime, I hope you enjoy the “Open Arms“ video I posted yesterday with Andy.

Amazing how Andy poured his emotions into songs, the same way Patsy Cline did. Ironically Patsy died at age 30 on March 5, 1963 , Andy" s fifth birthday. He too would die at 30 on March 10, 1988, five days after the twenty fifth anniversary of Patsy's death.

However, in regards to Mr. Gibb..... I kinda dislike him because his management did Gerry Rafferty and "Baker Street" dirty. According to rumor, Bill Wardlow, Billboard chart director, made the call to keep “Shadow Dancing” at #1. Wardlow had supposedly gone to dinner with Andy Gibb’s managers, and he’d mentioned that “Baker Street” had knocked “Shadow Dancing” out of the #1 spot. Gibb had been scheduled to perform at a Billboard-sponsored show in New York, and his label threatened to pull him from the bill if Billboard didn’t keep “Shadow Dancing” on top, so that’s why “Baker Street” never got to #1. Pure speculation and hearsay, sure, but if it's true..... Is his management or label to blame, or is Andy?
@desertrose1226 Жыл бұрын
Doubt it was Andy tbh. He was a sweet and gentle kid.
@LogoMan7777 Жыл бұрын
@@desertrose1226 Right. And if Andy had found out, he probably would have made it up to Gerry somehow.
@LogoMan77772 жыл бұрын
Andy's a good singer, but Christopher Cross would have been better with that lineup of backing vocals.
