I had the privilege of fighting and training with Andy, around 6 months before this fight. We both trained with the Dutch national team, under Michel Wedel. He was such a nice and down to earth guy. Being one of the best (amateurs) in my country at the time, Andy was just a completely different level, the perfect fighter who achieved incredible things despite his relatively small stature in Heavy weight. Is it me or Filho used to kick way higher in his Karate bouts before K-1? I mean... he used nice kicks in K-1: back kicks, spinning hook kicks and specially the brazilian kick (mae mawashi kubi geri), but somehow his kicks seem more smooth and less restrained in his Karate bouts. Nevertheless, in K-1 he got to show us his other arsenal: his punches are VERY precise and VERY powerful, and he combines them perfectly. That flurry of punches that knocked out Ernesto Hoost was glorious. Andy Hug used to endure brutal assaults from monsters like Mike Bernardo and still fight back, but when he fought Filho in K-1, he was struck with a very quick counterpunch that looked like nothing at all, but was so precise and powerful that knocked him to the canvas.
@TheChiconspiracy10 жыл бұрын
Of course he looks more free with his kicks, he's not going to eat punches to the head if he messes up. Similarly, it's why K1 level strikers look stiff and conservative when they fight MMA, they will pay for it if they mess up.

+Liquidcadmus What I'm "talking about" you ask? Did you watch this vid or just thinking about KyokuShin myths? "you dont know anything about martial arts" Well, first of all, I know RESPECT to opposite opinion as martial arts basics: you obviously, DON'T. Keep your "suggestions" for yourself...perhaps you will learn something from your own words...In fact, I don't care at all. Honor means to accept when you are wrong, folk.
