For the trombonists landing here, I know that the 8va's are rather unusual, but regarding the majority of musicians who almost never have to read even the F clef,, it seemed to take up more than enough processing power of the brain. Add to that reading up to 5 or 6 lines above the staff would cause some brain explosions. If you like that latin band by the way (yes, of which Jorre is part), you can find the complete tune it was taken from here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/kKbTaKWjec9pnKc and follow the band on here: facebook.com/Mamb%C3%ADsimo-Big-Band-943254069159991/

@ravenger2445Ай бұрын
The slide is only half of it. The embouchure (lips) are the other half. Additionally, the higher you go in range, the _less_ you need to extend the slide. Higher trombone range is like playing a guitar with 3 frets and 15 strings - The frets are the slide, and the strings are the embouchure.

@tharealgavgav83063 жыл бұрын
Fast air, high tongue. Try to sing the note and feel how your mouth is positioned, then re-create that when you play. Do not use a bunch of pressure to squeeze it out! Just practice some high chromatics and work your way up to it. The goal is to be comfortable! Also, a 12c helps lol ;) hope this helps, if you were looking for genuine advice.....

Anyone else notice that this transcription is in the wrong key? Playing in F minor but seems to be notated in Bb minor? Am I wrong?
@SharpElevenMusic2 жыл бұрын
Hi Francis, I played as lead Alto on this recording session, so I'm pretty sure about the key 🙂 it also had been proofread by Andy himself and adapted slightly here and there to his feedback. It should be pretty accurate

@@SharpElevenMusic thanks - He is an amazing player! Can you check at :17 I think his highest note there is a Gb not Eb? And then Eb - F- Db ... not sure then the chords follow his playing? Sorry to be a pest ...
@Hijodenels2 жыл бұрын
Are you reading as if it's treble clef? You mention a high Gb and that's what is notated (in bass clef/F clef) but would be an Eb in treble clef/G clef. It's definitely in Bb minor btw.

I know this is 8 months after your comment and you probably know by now But this song is in Bb minor Which has B E A D G all flatted However Ab is the 7th degree of the scale And he used harmonic minor which means you raise the 7th by half step

@SharpElevenMusic5 жыл бұрын
Hi Qwerty, I explained why in a comment to the video here pinned to the top.As we have lots of musicians p^laying different instruments subscribed to the channel, I figured most people 1. almost never read bass clef and 2. certainly never read bass clef that high. Hope you understand, I uploaded a tromboneproof version for our patreons though
@MrGeolm5 жыл бұрын
@@SharpElevenMusic Hi as a saxophonist I don't understand why trombonist don't like 8va? Can someone explain why ? I guess it's only because trombonists are used to read chart without 8va?
@SharpElevenMusic5 жыл бұрын
@@MrGeolm Yes, when I transcribed this I had it proofread by a trombonist (Jorre speaking here, saxophonist myself) to discuss the 8va thing, and he already told me that using 8va was not usuall, instead 5 or 6 extra lines above the bar was common actually. But considerung most subscribers of this channel are either saxophone or guitar (like Timothy and myself) and are 1. not used to read bass clef and 2. even if you read bass cleff, definitely not comfortable reading with so many helping lines above the bar. So I decided to go with what I assumed would be the most universally readable chart to publish here. I made a trombonepart and pûblished that on the Patreon channel as well, In the end, it's all about habits I guess, and yes trombonists are very much used to read those charts that go well above the staff (something I learned as early as this week either :) )
