This is the story of my husband Sergio and me. Thirty years of love this year. We could not have received a most beautiful, touching, moving gift. Thanks Andy and all the crew. And of course Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein who wrote the song two years before I was born.

Honestly was dreaming of a possible modern jukebox musical with R&H music. Think about how popular it could be bringing iconic songs into the 21st century. Nice music video. Major respect for the LGBTQ angle.

Well, I was going to say all the positive things that have already been said, so instead, I'd just like to say thank you for the beautiful gift. I can't wait to see what's next Andy. 😍😍😍 I apologize. I have been remiss in not mentioning Michael. Of course you are incredibly gifted, but more importantly, I love how sweet you are to Andy. You both have beautiful hearts, not to mention the best dog! Sorry, I just had to throw Hudson in there. 😊

Some enchanted evening You may see a stranger You may see a stranger Across the crowded room And somehow you know You know even then That someway you'll see her Again and again, hmm Some enchanted evening Someone may be laughing You may hear her laughing Across a crowded room And night after night As strange as it seems The sound of her laughter Will sing in your dreams Who can explain it? Who can tell you why? Fools give you reasons Who can explain it? Who can tell you why? Fools give you reasons Wise men never try Some enchanted evening When you find your true love When you feel her call you Across a crowded room Then fly to her side And make her your own Or all through your life You may dream all alone Once you have found her Never let her go Once you have found her Never let her go Once you have found her Never let her go Once you have found her Never let her go Once you have found her Never let her go

I would love to know what Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein 2nd would have thought of this version of their song from South Pacific had they still been alive ?.... I say this as a life long enthusiast of the lives and works of America's great songwriters, composers and lyricists. Richard Rodgers and his first lyric writing partner Lorenz Hart being the first songwriting partnership that I studied. I do know that Rodgers liked his melodies precisely as he wrote them, and that Oscar Hammerstein 2nd, always wrote the lyrics first, then Rodgers' wrote the melody. Rodgers was a master melody writer, yet he never had any formal music training. He could write music seated at his desk. Rodgers' had perfect pitch.

Very interesting! But why not change the pronouns to match the love story? You should realize that countless vocalists have emphasized certain words. You have chosen not to do this.
@kl-14473 жыл бұрын
I guess maybe in the same way when other artists perform songs they also don't change the pronouns. It sort of preserves the original song in a timeless sort of way I supposed. The pronouns don't matter here, it's about the story and song (that is not to say that pronouns aren't important, just for this song I think its alright).
@kenneth70273 жыл бұрын
@@kl-1447 I disagree. This is a celebration of two men singing a love song to each other. A rare occurrence. It makes no sense to have them saying "she". If the two were simply singing as a duet, facing the audience, maybe.
@kl-14473 жыл бұрын
@@kenneth7027 Yeah, no, I understand what you're saying, and actually, you're right, since it's not a live performance it would make more sense to change the pronouns. I was just giving a reason they might have not.
@elliefantyellow3 жыл бұрын
I thought the same thing. I was fine with having them change it to two men, but then why not also change the pronouns? That was the only thing that kept bugging me through the video/song.
@kenneth70273 жыл бұрын
@@elliefantyellow Listen to Michael Feinstein and Cheyanne Jackson very comfortably expressing their feelings of love on "The Power Of Two". Especially "Someone to Watch Over Me ".

The harmonics in this song were disfigured in the name of novelty and "distinction". Why not just start fresh instead of cannibalizing this perfectly good song? It bears no resemblance to Richard Rogers' work.
