I was in a bar in Cork having a Murphy's with my boss when all of a sudden my hat I was wearing was wrenched off my head. I stood up and turned around to find Andy Powell ( now wearing my hat ) Mike Phillips and another couple of the Welsh squad members all laughing and grinning. As an Englishman and rugby fan myself I resisted from giving him a dig there and then coz he was a big unit and so lived to tell the tale. Rugger eh !!

Great abrasive exciting player and very honest and open about himself. Have met him a couple of times whilst having a few beers down the road from Brecon in Abergavenny. Likeable guy. Good to see him doing so well with his home town team Brecon RFC.

Watched Andy play at Newport as understudy to Teichmann. He was set in his mould and was an amazing player to see weave through midfield. He lost his way a bit and could have done with a mentor to keep him on track (that’s what I think) but from watching this you can see why he could easily get lost. It was great to see him come to the top for Wales he could have been up there sooner and for longer but great to see him play.
