I met Andy Stewart when he was performing at the North pier pavilion in Blackpool. Such a lovely guy and down to earth. Happy to pose for a couple of photos with my late Aunt and myself. Happy memories. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

We went to see Andy and other popular singers of the day at a High School in Hamilton, Ontario. We were fairly recent immigrants and it was wonderful to hear the tunes we were so familiar with.

Aye for sure ....... wight a meenit! New Year's EVe ? Far d'ye cumfae? Thocht it wis HOGMANAY ! Och it disnae matter ..... I ken fit ye mean. Yes Hogmanays aren't the same any more - just re-hashes of daily pop. Yes the muckin o Geordie's Byre - just been doin that myself - and often think of Andy - just one of those rural things.

Came here on a trip down memory lane. My Nana loved watching Andy Stewart and I would watch with her. I didn’t realise at the time that part of it was probably because her husband (who died in 1937 when my Dad was 5) was from Glasgow. I think Andy’s voice may have reminded her of my Grandad. (She met and married him when he was in the RAF near Ameysbury, Wiltshire, where she lived). Such a long time ago now!

I grew up listening to this SUPERB music and have fond memories of it all. WWII - and all its horrors/deprivation no doubt helped it succeed. Three cheers from this Sasenach! RIP Mr. Stewart.

As a child born in England from a Scottish family we religiously watched Andy every time he appeared on the box. New Year was the only time we were allowed to stay up and join the festivities and by brother, being black haired had to go out to the neighbours and bring them the greetings. Not at midnight because the neighbours may be in bed but 9 o'clock the next morning as back then people did not lay late in bed because they needed to get up to light coal fires.

A few years before Andy's very sad death, my wife and I were sitting in a restaurant at the Highland Show at Ingliston. We became aware of a couple and their children sitting at the next table, and realised it wss Andy and his family. Just a quiet happy family like any other, with a cheery smile in our direction, no prima donna airs and no acting, genuine and quietly friendly. A memory we treasure.

I recall when he took ill in the late 80,s it was said he suffered from a food allergy. Aberdonians stll miss him so much at His Majesties and the Tivoli ,25 years after his death although he,s not performed and starred at the Tivoli after the 1960,s due to its closure but I stand corrected. All my relatives loved his clean Scots humor and great voice as a top Ambassador who represented the kindly coothie welcoming image of Scotland to the world unlike these awful Brexit mob today.

Andy loved Aberdeen and starred at His Majesty,s and the Tivoli in the 1960,s,the golden age of the White Heather club on tv too. The little film that remains is a treasure trove of great Scots entertainers ,hosted by Andy but unfortunately in those days, tapes often got deleted. He did take some criticism for representing the kitschy side of Scots music in his modern popular songs like Donald where,s your troosers, but 25 years after his death, partly due to the large amount of trashy music of today,he comes across well from a golden age 50-60 years ago.
