I am glad that we can simply enjoy the works of artists and be inspired by them without having to go through the drama of their lives.

Stewart Copeland's brothers had a lot to do with the success of the Police. His eldest brother, Miles Copeland III (born 1944), founded I.R.S. Records and became the Police's manager. He has also overseen Copeland's interests in other music projects. His other brother, Ian Copeland (1949-2006), was a pioneering booking agent who represented the Police and many others. I'm surprised that Dominic Miller has stayed with Sting for so long. He's even brought his son on board as the second guitarist for the tours.

The Police are kind of like The Beatles. Together, they were something really special, but their personalities meant that their time as a band was finite. Sting was both the Lennon and the McCartney of the band. Sting has been very successful as a solo artist, but you could argue that none of his solo music shook the world like The Police did. They've tried to reunite, but it's never worked. The Police are over, but they left behind something spectacular that new listeners will rediscover for many years to come.

The Police were ONLY like the Beatles because their time was finite. After that point, The Police were not even in the same universe as the Beatles.

@@johnNYjets12 "Never worked" as in creating new music, genuine collaboration. Rehashing their old hits onstage isn't the same thing, and however lucrative that might have been, none of them are in any hurry to do that again.

Together these guys were phenomenal, they all had their skills and dreams, the music they produced will never die but genius can be blessing OR a band disaster, thankfully the music took precedence. Well done on this and some great shots of the guys many I have not seen before!

True. But all their great songs are written by Sting. Andy and Stewart's songs are good, but not what made the Police special. And yes Sting solo doesn't appeal to me. I know it takes them three to make Sting's songs great.

I first met 'Sting' in 1993. He was with his lawyer, claiming to be my illegitimate son, which at the time seemed unlikely given I was 20 years old. Anyway he was very nice, though had obviously not showered in days.

Being in a band sucks, everyone has to have a say in what music to play. It always starts out as a democratic vote, but it never works that way. When you have a band member whoseaong creativeness overrides any other band mates creativeness & he is the lead vocalist, you'll have jealousy, because he will get most the credit for the band. There will always be personality differences. This was the real reason FattBurger broke up. The band members were jealous of Steve Laury's song writing abilities. 90% of the songs done by FattBurger were written by Laury. He was a friend of mine & I heard about it until my ear almost fell off. The only way he managed to produce his own songs under his name, was to pay musicians to play & record on his songs, that way he controlled everything that was to be done by the musicians & all the the money the songs produced would be his. So it goes!

Copeland yes - was a world great drummer, but Summers was way not good enough (sorry for saying that, but he should know that tho'') and that was the reason Police splited and why Sting had great musicians on his following tours. I could feel Sting if you try to hear the solos Summer was playing ( or trying to play )

Why? because he is not shredding a million notes per minute makes him a bad guitar player.

@@cespo77 Doesn't need to shred, had some beautifull playing as well, but listen to his solos live - he is way behind Sting or Copeland and couldn't express enough of anything or bring the crowd up - we are talking high level

He couldn't solo - nothing bad but Sting wanted some more at the grown age - like an acoustic guitar alone singer could be beautifull but great musicians want more
