Andy Timmons from his home studio in Texas introduces the brand new JHS Pedals Andy Timmons pedal know as "The AT Channel Drive" ...this is a JHS Pedals artist signature pedal and based around the framework of the JHS Angry Charlie that he's been using for a few years now....but now with Andy's personal specs.
All audio recorded into a Zoom H6 (www.zoom.co.jp) using a pair of Sure SM57 mics. Video recorded with Canon 5D MkIII. Andy is playing the original prototype of his Ibanez Guitars Signature AT100CLSB guitar (www.ibanez.co.j...) through MESA/Boogie LoneStar heads with 2 Mesa Transatlantic cabs loaded with their Black Shadow 90w speakers (www.mesaboogie.com). One LoneStar has EL34s and the other 6L6s Andy uses Gig Rig (www.thegigrig.com).

Just watched this again. How can you dislike Andy? As far as a demo goes, though, really doesn't get into the product. Love to hear him play every chance I get, but more tech is needed for a demo, so this is really a play through.

Andy's playing is just stellar to say the least…the VERY cool thing about the AT pedal is that the 2 tone controls work great controlling the spikey treble pickup of a strat…the strat can sound very smooth and buttery…my amp has a very bright clean channel and the AT works great dialing out that harsh treble…cool pedal...

It's funny, I was looking for overdrive pedal to round off the high-mid of my strat's bridge pickup. And JHS-AT was on my mind. So I've ended up here. And this comment just sits here, basically telling me 'buy it' :D

it's a very smooth overdrive with a lot of gain…definitely worth checking out, despite the price tag…i do wish it had a bit more hair on it, but what it does, it does REALLY well...

just curious what do think of michael shenkers tone ufo strangers in the night live flying v marshall crybaby delay keeping in mind effects were in the infant stage. The true test of tone is when a player can plug in without effects and all of us commenting may or may not care for the music but can all identify who it is. Please im not trying to start an argument i love andys playing and think he plays better than who i mention but an example of tone identity not playing ability or a select few have both brian may is a great choice eddie vanhalen jimmy hendrix. please dont blow up my email but if you were hearing the music for the first time could you tell the differance between andy, eric, joe sat, steve v,joe bona, also consider technology poor hendrix imagine playing with marshalls on 10 to get distortion ive been playing guitar a long time and know that trying to control feedback at that level is art in itself. There are also effect dependent players who have tone, the edge from u2 do you think he could play a gig without. Have you ever seen him on stage jamming with people? he really not a guitar player he is an effects player. Isolate his playing on most u2 songs and it sounds like door bells going off and makes no sense try humming the guitar parts in a u2 song good luck

REALLY solid sound he got, which you can really hear when he plays an A5, or whatever other power chords... And, as many have said, aside from that really solid base tone, everything is in his fingers/his technique as far as tone goes (James Russo, I agree that his tone is definitely dark, and I would add "warm" to that as well. It's definitely not super punchy, although when he's playing the notes do tend to "bounce" out at you... being the lively & spirited player that he is. I've been tempted to get this incarnation of the "Charlie" line of pedals, but am probably going to just go for it and get the JHS Sweet Tea, which is a double that has the Angry Charlie on one side and an 808 on the other... Since getting a HELIX several months ago, I've been itching to get more pedals. Not because the sounds aren't good enough, but because it's pumped up the gear nerd in me! ( I have around 100 pedals, as well as 6 multi-fx units (including the HX), and I'm in the process of selling off a couple dozen of the singles...but, I will never sell any of my JHS pedals.)

Think about this if all us players making comments say went to guitar center and we all played an eric clapton strat and then played a regular strat could you tell the differance. I did a marketing study i used 3 players of differant levels . I used gibson and epiphone les pauls and fender squire and american strats and fender, vox, marshall amps. i used 2 guitar techs 2 expert salesman and 2 random shoppers all have never met, i had the guitar players play their best licks on each guitar. Result all the judges had 100% accuracy in regards to amp changes and 10% on which guitar was being played, try it some time bring a friend use a high and low end guitar and the same amp play the same licks on each switch it around or pretend too and ask them which is which. Then ask yourself is that guitar worth 1100 more. Then again you might not want to because like myself i make lame excuses to ease my mind when the truth is i'm worried more about what people think. i've learned at most gigs you have the 2 guitar experts in front that comment on your playing and gear all night and each one of them cant play a kazoo. take a cheap guitar and play your best song that generates a great crowd response and smile at them or stop your set tell the crowd you have overheard the two guitarist in front saying they would like to show me how its done and invite them up. hand them the guitar and leave. have your band ask them what song until the booing starts and becomes laughter and you wont ever see them again. even if your having an off night the crowd loves you now and you can do no wrong
