Andy quickly became one of my favorites when I discovered him 8 years ago. Love his tone, his creativity, his expression and even his demeanor as a person. His soul really comes out in his playing; Total masterful, Apex musician.

Saw him, Paul Gilbert and Guthrie Govan few years ago from a guitar clinic they held in my country. Unbelievable! Virtuousos playing on the highest level and yet so humble!

I have to say I watched these videos 5 or 6 years ago and it was to much for me but now coming back to this video I'm instantly incorporating these arpeggios and coming up with some nice melodic lines. As with all new stuff i know it will keep growing into even a deeper understanding. Thanks!

well this just makes so much sence. so over the chord you can use triads and arpeggios from ALL the diatonic chords in the same key. dude just opened up the effin fretboard . so over a d minor i dont only have to use d minor.
@KillertoneLabs5 жыл бұрын
cypress dobro yeah but that kind of like saying you can play any subset of notes in the scale over any chord from the Key... As long as the scale is in the key. Which is the whole point of a scale and how it relates to a key

Why are notes like the flatted 6th not as popular in blues? Is it just me to find it odd that blues tends to be an over emphasis on thirds?

Wonder if you use caged at all? For me, it's my saving grace but it looks like these triads fill in all the missing pieces between the shapes.. Nice stuff Andy!

Awesome ideas. Also, what kind of pickups are those ?
@robn.74268 жыл бұрын
+Rob Williams That is Andy's signature Ibanez, the humbucker is a Dimarzio AT1, (Andy Timmons 1), the singles are Dimarzio Cruisers.
@carlodevivo29288 жыл бұрын
Correct, but to be precise, he uses 2 DiMarzio The Cruiser DP187 (bridge model) in the neck position and the middle position. Treble bleed on 500K volume pot, made with a 0,002uF capacitor in parallel with a 100K resistor
@samclark435310 жыл бұрын
They are the same thing. They share the same notes if it's diminished. E, G, Bb, Db - Edim Bb, Db, E, G - Bbdim All a minor third apart.
@EthnHayabusa9 жыл бұрын
sam clark That is diminished seventh chords, not diminished triads. An E dminished triad would be E G Bb. Em7b5 would add a D natural, not a Db. The key of F only has a Bb.
@kormosjano647 жыл бұрын
It's true when you take seventh chords. Four note chords. But these are triads. So Bb diminished triad is not the same as E diminished. Bb-Db-Fb.(E ) E-G-Bb
@joshuamichael43123 жыл бұрын
B flat diminished? Isn't it E diminished in the key of F major/d minor?

@pb126612 жыл бұрын
can anyone, with actual playing experience, tell me about his guitar's neck? I love the looks/sound of this guitar but the neck seems super narrow? is it really?
@jonpileggi26218 жыл бұрын
How are you getting that great sound? Amp. pedal? Very cool
@Umuliuz8 жыл бұрын
Andy is cool. His clean sound is a Keeley modded Boss Bluesbreaker pedal, played into a Mesa Lonestar amp. But he uses a treble mod on his guitar volume pot, that allows the guiter not to loose treble as he just rolls i back for cleans. This gives him the nice cleans, but you hear the grit when he digs in a little to the frets.
@paulcox972810 жыл бұрын
You played E dim triad and called it Bb dim, luckily I knew it was meant to be E dim but not sure others would know that, I enjoy your playing by the way.
@markfelts65119 жыл бұрын
Not wrong nor right, he's approaching the arpeggios ascending from the 5th of each chord, the 5th(flattened) of Bbdim is E.
@matthewschad66897 жыл бұрын
Paul Cox ^^exactly. It's the same chord just different name

Your videos need to start out with you ripping on the guitar ,over a jam track ,to wet our appetite for what’s about to be taught ! And then break down the lesson into smaller licks ,with tab ,and then at the end ,add them all together again over a jam track , this will make your videos more interesting!!!
