Same happened to me the first time I finished the first season , I was expecting God's of the Arena to be the sequel , instead was a prequel about the past of some characters from the previous season , I liked those characters so i watched those 6 episodes. After watching Blood and Sand along with God's of the Arena, I was ready and excited to see know what happened with Spartacus , the slaves and the rest of the gladiators after they escaped from Batiatus Ludus. Just to realized that they replaced Andy Whitfield with another guy and a bunch of new actors as slaves and gladiators from Batiatus I didn't see before. Was a disappointment until I discovered he passed then I was just sad and devastated. After almost 10 years still gets me.

Damn, this really sucks that he can't continue on as Spartacus. But he is making a guest appearance in the prequel. I wish something would happen, and he'd get all better before filming for season 2, and he comes back. That would be amazing.

Omg he was so humble and down to earth! I LOVED the way he portrayed Spartacus and sadly the new season is not the same withou him :( and oh God he was sooooo gorgeous! I could watch the show over and over just to see his beautiful face and that hot body. So sad he is gone. He was going to be a huge star with all that talent

Dealing with stage 4 cancer myself, it is rough to hear that a joy in your life has also been hit with cancer. Spartacus has been something to look forward too while under going treatment. 37 radiation treatments and 6 weekly chemo's. I hope Andy beats it, I really do, a good looking guy whom finally gets his big break, and still remains a humble person. Wow like Eric Bana, Andy Whitfield shows the power of male Austrialian actors. Again thank you Showtime for Spartacus and thank you Andy!

After seeing andy whitfield in spartacus blood and sand and seeing his amazing acting skills i began to look at his other work and also watch some interviews of him. His acting is unbeatable and he seems like a genuine person. no one else will EVER be able to take the role of spartacus. I won't tune in for another season if it's not andy as spartacus. It just wouldn't be the same.

When Spartacus was big, a few people told me I look like him. It's flattering, but really I would kill to look like him, coming from a straight guy, he is the best looking man I've ever seen. @Sarnius26 He was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma, so they filmed Gods of The Arena while he went through treatment and recovered. But then he relapsed and couldn't be Spartacus anymore, and then he died in September.

It pisses me off that guys like this can die at 39. I mean what a bloke. If you look across the internet for anybody who's ever spoken about him, whether costars, extras, random members of the public, or part of the production teams, you don't just see praise for him as an actor, but you see people comment on how great a guy he was. You hear stories about all this stuff he did for people that made him memorable to them. RIP mate. I'm still absolutely gutted that he's died.
