Congrats on becoming a believer! God definitely has good works for you to do. Here is Eph 2:10: For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them. I do want to caution you against the false teaching of OSAS. Nothing is more effective in turning a believer into a lukewarm believer than OSAS. It has been 3 years since your post. I am curious as to how you are doing!
@billadams62323 ай бұрын
Dr. Woods is an excellent Bible teacher. Regarding the previous comment about OSAS (once saved always saved) this is a true doctrine taught in the scriptures since eternal salvation is not by works (Ephesians 2:8-9, Romans 4:5, Titus 3:5), is a gift of God (Romans 6:23B, Ephesians 2:8-9, 1 John 5:11). Believing (placing complete trust in Jesus Christ)(Acts16:31) the gospel (1 Corinthians 15:3-4)(Jesus died to pay for our sins, was buried & arose again on the third day) is the power of God unto salvation. God gives eternal life now upon complete trust in Christ as Savior.
@billadams6232Ай бұрын
Additionally, -eternal salvation is not obtained by a combination of faith plus works; they are mutually exclusive of each other. (Romans 11:6) -John 3 describes being eternally saved as being "born again" spiritually. In the same way when a person is physically born they can not be unborn, they are born (made alive) spiritually they can not be unborn spiritually (OSAS, can not lose their eternal salvation). -When a person is saved they receive eternal life, a spiritual life that is eternal (lasts forever). -Individual Bible study is so important (2 Timothy 2:15). -It doesn't take a well educated theologian to understand the Bible. (2 Timothy 3:15) -In Bible study it is very important to study the context of the verse.

I think you are one of the best teachers that I’ve seen. I appreciate your videos. I was really asking the Lord to help me with that particular scripture, faith without works is dead, and this is what the Holy Spirit taught me; If I have faith, my works will show it, Ex. If I pray for understanding of a particular scripture, I have faith that the Holy Spirit will give me understanding. For it is written that God Himself would teach me all things. So if I have faith that He will give me understanding, I wait for it, I don’t go asking everyone for the answer, I trust that God will show me. Another example: If I pray for a washing machine, I won’t complain, or tell my self “I hope God will answer my prayer”, no, instead, I thank God for the washing machine, even though I don’t already have it. I get my clothes separated and ready to wash, and eagerly await as God will have someone call me and say, “I know someone who got a new washing machine, the one they replaced is still in very good condition. Do you know anyone needing a washer?” Or I may drive by and one will be out for sale at a price I can afford. My works is believing, in faith. Just as Abraham was accounted for righteous by his works, he believed. If I say I have faith, but don’t believe what I have faith for, it is dead faith.

As they should. A dead faith will not save you. If you think Grace through (a dead, mere intellectual) Faith will save you, you might want to re-read James 2. A living saving faith is one of works inspired by that faith. You cannot have one without the other.

@@Donasavedbygrace You said, " in order to have a dead faith you must have a living faith to begin with." James says that faith without works is dead. Therefore, there are lots of people who have lost their salvation (according to what you believe).

@@KJVisOutdated-ek9cw James was not dealing with salvation because it is a gift according to Ephesians 2:8-9. He was speaking of a faith which can't be used after being saved by FAITH. The book of James is writing to BELIEVERS already JUSTIFIED by FAITH. He called them BRETHERN. we don't call unbelievers brethren. I believe in Once saved always saved because Jesus is the savior and not Me. If a believer could lose salvation then God would be a liar. John 3:16 is your verse of the day!!!! @KJVisOutdated-ek9cw9 ай бұрын
@@Donasavedbygrace Yes, the book of James is writing to believers already justified by faith. Exactly! You believe in OSAS because Jesus is the savior and not you. How is it then that when Jesus tells you that you will forfeit your salvation if you go back to observing the law for justification or if you go back to a life of sin or if you do not remain in him or if you disown him, or if you go back to loving the things of this world, or if you don't endure to the end, or if you are ashamed of him, or if you take the mark of the beast, or if you develop an unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God, or if you don't obey God's commands or if you don't love your brother or if you don't walk in the light, - you don't believe him? God is not a liar when he warns you against things that will cost you eternal life. John 3:16 is YOUR verse of the day because in John 3:16, the word believe in Greek is a continuous believing and not a one time belief. No-one will come to Christ without first the conviction of sin by the Holy Spirit Justification is a work of God the Father and the Holy Spirit in us and without us. Justification and faith do not have a sequence in time but in order Faith- Justification but are simultaneously in time. Sanctification is a work of The Holy Spirit in us but not without us. Justification and SANCTIFICATION cannot be separated. There is no sanctification without justification or justification without sanctification, this even when sanctification is just a begin of regeneration through all our life. Faith is by Grace and the free gift of God. The Bible teaches us the Justification of the UNGODLY. [Made/ declared Righteous. Based only on the righteousness of Christ] Not a believer is justified. The UNGODLY chooses SIN by nature. Sanctification is called Fruits of the Holy-Spirit James 2: 20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works [read FRUITS] is dead? Faith First then Fruits of Faith There is a general working of the Holy Spirit in the hearing of the Word that convicts and precedes faith but not always leads to salvation. See the parable of the sower. The plow is needed to make the soil good to receive the seed. Conviction is a work of the Holy Spirit and without no-one will come to Christ. Never lost is never saved. Jesus came to save the lost. THIS IS HOW CALVIN PREACHED THE GOSPEL (Calvin's Wisdom p119-120) He calls all men to himself, without a single exception, and gives Christ to all, that we may be illumined by him. When we pray, we ought, according to the rule of charity, to include all. God invites all indiscriminately to salvation through the Gospel, BUT THE INGRATITUDE OF THE WORLD IS THE REASON why this grace, which is equally offered to all, is enjoyed by few. Other than the result of men’s refusal. Calvin as you can see and put the responsibility by men.

Dennis Bonny Jaconetta Jaconetta I like this vs. so much because it is so explicit in it's message... I will attempt to break it down in regard to it's verbs..from the original Greek text...The vs. says ,Believe on the lord Jesus Christ ,and thou shalt be saved....Believe is the main verb...it is a aorist active ,imperative of the greek verb Pistos ,to believe. The aorist tense is a point of time that you believe. This is a special aorist tense that takes this point of time and perpetuates it into infinity..The active voice ,the subject ,produces the action of the verb,you believe. The imperative mood is a command. Saved is sozo, a future passive participle .A participle is an auxiliary verb that supports the main verb..The future tense show a completed action the moment you believe . The passive voice unlike the active voice ,says the subject (the one believing in Christ)receives the action of the verb rather than producing this action...In this case he receives salvation. So based on the original text The vs.is more accurately translated. Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and at that moment ,you are saved for ever and ever.. Notice repentance of sin is not mention because a spiritual dead person is not capable of doing anything to save himself.

in Acts 2:38 repent is a transitive verb it demands an object( it asks the question repent of what) .The object in this vs. is not sin. It is Jesus Christ. Most get this wrong , It is a change of mind about Christ that saves , no sin. Acts 16 :31 makes this clear ..Here is a break down in the greek of the two verbs that tell the story about how to be saved.

After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. For I am the least of the apostles, that am not meet to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me. In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory." Ephesians 1:12-14 KJV The problem of our sins: “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;” Romans 3:23 KJV “For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.” James 2:10 KJV “If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.” 1 John 1:8 KJV “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Romans 6:23 KJV Thus, if nothing that we can do [our ‘good works’, religion, ritual, keeping the whole law (=all 613 Commandments of the Torah as outlined in Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, & Deuteronomy) without ever offending the law in one point, etc.] can save/keep us saved until the day of redemption, then what must we do to be saved/receive everlasting life?: “And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.” Acts 16:30-31 KJV “that if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.” Romans 10:9-11 KJV “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” Romans 10:13 KJV "Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin. But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:" Romans 3:20-22 KJV God offers salvation and everlasting life as a free gift...by God's grace through faith in/of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe the gospel [in Jesus Christ]: “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast.” Ephesians 2:8-9 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16 “And I, if I [Christ] be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.” John 12:32 “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." John 14:6 KJV “Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; And patience, experience; and experience, hope: And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us. For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life. And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement. Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned: (For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law. Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam's transgression, who is the figure of him that was to come. But not as the offence, so also is the free gift. For if through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many. And not as it was by one that sinned, so is the gift: for the judgment was by one to condemnation, but the free gift is of many offences unto justification. For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.) Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life. For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous. Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound: That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord." Romans 5:1-21 KJV Therefore, we must preach the gospel. Paul said: "For though I preach the gospel, I have nothing to glory of: for necessity is laid upon me; yea, woe is unto me, if I preach not the gospel! (1 Corinthians 9:16...). The gospel of salvation [in Jesus Christ] must be clearly preached from the word of God, heard, and believed. Paul specifies the gospel that saves: “For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; and that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:” 1 Corinthians 15:3-4 The gospel contains nothing about good works, water baptism, church membership or attendance, tithing, sacraments or rituals, diet or clothing. If we change, add anything to, or subtract from the gospel, we have perverted it.

If the Xian audience of James didn't have or need access to a guy named Paul, who showed up over a decade later, to understand what James wrote, why would we. Perhaps the Hebrew text and the words of Jame's half brother, Jesus, would provide proper context. For example, maybe "justify" and performance to a Jew in the synagogue (2:1), might have been understood as "validate" or "prove to be right", like wisdom is in Lk 7:35. To understand James with Paul might be like trying to understand a Ford with a Chevy manual. That could cause a lot of problems. Thus, perhaps Abraham's friendship with God was vindicated, or energized, by his works. Same with Rahab. James had a different audience, problem, and agenda than Paul did. Nice chart, but it might not have made any sense to Jame's audience. What dud it say? What did it mean? What does it mean today? Less is more and James is just fine all by himself...Paul who?

All you have to do is READ the first line in the book of Jamesm see that book is NOT for us today and is the Twelve Tribes of Israel who are left behind after the Rapture. So, this video is in a way misleading you! Love 4Truth!

James 2 1 My brethren, have not the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, with respect of persons.

James was written during Christ's earthly ministry. Jews we're saved by believing that God is One and by obedience to the law of Moses. When Christ shed his blood for the remission of sins, Peter, John, and Paul made it clear that the shed blood of Christ is the only way to salvation. It's not like James deliberately denies the blood atonement that saves us. James wrote to a synagogue (masked by the English word "assembly") and addressed Jews who followed the law of Moses. We can learn from James today, but not about salvation.

False teaching!!!!!salvation has been by FAITH ALONE even before the cross. How do you know that David and Peter were saved. Do you know how many commandements, they did to earn salvation? Peter denied Jesus 3 times. Jesus said before the cross and after the cross that salvation is FAITH ALONE.@marylamb6063
