Just another seriously happy Proton user here - email, drive and VPN. Calendar too once they get the iOS app out of beta. I encourage others to try it - privacy is the way to go.

Thanks for the clear description of our predicament: so much for the anti-competition and citizen-privacy efforts of our government. They understand the issue, but I guess they benefit as well from the lack of oversight and enforcement, so I don't think they will look out for our interests. It's their interests and the monopolists that they support. It's a convoluted priority for a supposedly democratic, capitalistic country.

I love Proton because it feels like they really care about their mission and their customers, and it's not just about the money for them. I was satisfied with Proton anyway, but when the new update came recently and they made the previously Plus plan become unlimited? That pretty much assured my loyalty. Keep being awesome Proton!

Hmm. I'm a fan of Proton as well, and have had the "Mail Plus" plan for a couple of years+ yet despite all the new updates, I DO NOT see an automatic upgrade to unlimited from a "Mail Plus" account. In fact, when I go to settings, it offers me an option to upgrade to the Proton Unlimited plan for an additional fee. Perhaps you got lucky?
