In addition to more Soundgarden, you need to check out "Hunger Strike" by Temple of the Dog. They were a tribute band for the late Andrew Wood of Mother Love Bone, consisting of Cornell, Eddie Vedder, and Wood's old band mates who would go on to form Pearl Jam with Vedder. They weren't a supergroup at the time they recorded, but they're definitely one in retrospect. Cornell's duet with Vedder ranks as one of the all time greatest vocal performances in rock.

I can't tell you, @Andy & Alex, how delighted I am with this reaction. Soundgarden was long overdue for a listen, and this track is just one of many exceptional songs of theirs (many have been mentioned in other comments). A full-album reaction of "Superunknown" would be more than appropriate ( though, truth be told, I'm still itching for a full-album reaction of Pearl Jam's "Ten" masterpiece). Cornell, as noted elsewhere, is indeed one of the top rock singers in history. His range and belt-ability are well-known, but as some have mentioned, the stripped-down, more emotional songs he released later in his career (such as his cover of Nothing Compares to U) cemented his legend and helped people realize he wasn't simply a screamer. He and I were born just a month apart, and as I'm from the Seattle area myself, I always felt a kinship with him. I'm still devastated by his premature loss, but I'm so glad that his music and voice live on.

They have a deep catalog to dive into. Being from Seattle, I’ll suggest Spoonman. Written about & featuring Artis the Spoonman who was a busker that played around the city in the 90’s. He actually plays on the track & in the middle of the song, the band just lets him go off with just some sparse drumming to accompany him. Glorious!

Drummer Matt Cameron also became Pearl Jam's drummer, later in PJ's career. Guitarist Kim Thayil is sadly very underrated, but largely credited with the D-tuning that made "Grunge" so big. The Temple of the Dog song that came in second place on this poll feature vocals from Chris Cornell and Eddie Vedder (Pearl Jam), guitarists Mike McCreedy and Stone Gossard, bassist Jeff Ament (all from Pearl Jam) and Matt Cameron on drums.

He's incredible and can do things other rock drummers simply can't. Chris is a god among singers. He is the epitome of a 90s sound. You need to check out “Burden in my Hand” as your next one. Easily one of his best.

Me and Cynthia talked about it. You should listen to Rusty Cage, in our humble opinion. Such a good song. And Johnny Cash covered it! You need to hear that too!

They never entered the US Billboard Hot 100, but did very well on the US Mainstream Rock chart and US Alternative Airplay chart.

Dudes! Soundgarden!! Thanks for finally doing a song from them. There’s literally a ton of bangers you can do next… to name a few: Jesus Christ Pose, Outshined, Spoonman, Rusty Cage, The Day I Tried To Live, Burden In My Hand, Blow Up The Upside World, Pretty Noose, Superunknown, Let Me Drown, Nothing To Say.

Glad to hear all the love for CC. It would be interesting for you guys to listen to his voice change over time. Start with Loud Love and Hands All Over by Soundgarden, then do the full Soundgarden album of Bad Motor Finger, then Seasons from the soundtrack to the movie Singles, then the full Soundgarden album of Superunknown, then Cochise from his later band Audioslave which was essentially him singing with the band from Rage Against The Machine, then his cover of Michael Jackson's Billie Jean, then his song You Know My Name from the James Bond film Casino Royale. Thanks for sharing! ~Be Blessed

"Superunknown" is my favorite Soundgarden album! One of the few albums I can listen to without skipping a song! I can literally loop it several times!

Your comments and analogies on his singing are so funny and spot on. He had such range and restraint at the same time. I saw him perform the year before he took his life and I was so grateful I took that opportunity. Once in a lifetime singer. RIP Chris.

GRUNGE!!! This is a fact in my life: I used to sincerely thank God for grunge and wiping out most of the 80's hair metal bands. I did this at least once a week for Years!! I followed Chris (not chronological order) from Temple of the Dog to Soundgarden and 'Seasons' on the Singles soundtrack to Audioslave and so on. I thought he 'escaped' the fate of so many grunge lead singers and was crushed by his death. So glad I can still hear his music.
