Thanks. Hope it helps some folks out to realize it doesn't take a ton of equipment to create captivating images. Appreciate you taking the time to comment!

@@AndyCrawfordPhotos If I didn't already have plans for the Fall, I'd love to participate in your workshop. Atlanta isn't that far away, and like Alaska, there's no place like LA

Andy, that Z 14-24 2.8 is remarkable. Amazing for landscape and astro.

Yeah, I'm sure that's a beast of a lens. I love that Sigma 14 Art (incredible glass), and use it with ultra-wide scenes and astro. But it would be nice to have that space between 14mm and 24mm filled. Thinking about something like the Nikon 17-35mm.

A a mountain biker that brings a camera on rides such massive camera is overkill, But I bring extra batteries instead. A regular camera will fit into most backpacks, a bit tight but 16L backpacks, and quite well into a 30L backpack, but the big ones won't. Like a hiking or mountain biking backpack. But I think I will get the Shimoda X40 V2, the door at the back will make a massive difference. and carrying more camera gear, and not digging around and moving stuff. So I will have to get a photography backpack, but none fit my needs, but Shimoda looks promising. But the women's version looks promising as it has mesh back padding. the regular doesn't, which ppl say is very sweaty. so that's not good for me. In the Winter it would be, but not in 30C summer, mountain biking for tens of kms.

The Z9 definitely isn't what I'd call a travel camera. It's amazing, but it is big and bulky. I have since added the Z8 for landscape shooting, and it's much more friendly to my backpack and my back. lol I definitely recommend the Shimoda backpacks. After several years of use, my bag is still water proof (and I've dragged it on beaches, in bogs and marshes, etc.). And it has forced me to be intentional about what gear I take, as it won't fit everything. And, honestly, I don't miss taking every lens I own with me.

@AndyCrawfordPhotos I have an A7IV and don't drain the battery for photos. I did at first cus I had a faulty battery that wasn't predictable, drained quickly. But new battery solved that. Only drain it if I shoot video for a long time. I got two spare batteries. Made sure to test them.

After the tour Andy, we'll become real life "swamp creatures." Muahahahahaha hahahahahahaha! I couldn't resist.

@@AndyCrawfordPhotos Thank you Andy. And I did just buy 2 of the eyecups, from Zemlin Photo, for my Nikon Zf (Nikon Zf Eye-cup Eyepiece 2 x $37.95). Hopefully they will help keep out stray light, as I prefer to use the EVF compared to the back LCD screen.

I'm with you: I'm an old shooter, and much prefer looking through the viewfinder than the LCD - unless I'm shooting tripod-mounted landscapes. I really think you'll like those eyepieces. :-)
