I can (and have) spent many hours just playing about with portal on some simple patterns. It is almost hard to think of it as an effect as it performs almost like an instrument itself.

Have you or anyone had any issues with some presets being in mono? Only coming through the Right ear?
@AndyDollerson5 жыл бұрын
No I haven't. Can you elaborate? Are there particular presets this happens with? I'll try to re-create.
@KristoferProphet5 жыл бұрын
Andy Dollerson Yes there are particular presets this happens with and I’m not sure why. “Grain Runner” is one for example. I am using this on a stereo signal MIDI synth btw. “Event Repetition” is another. “Particle Reduction”. “Trembling Time”. “Drone Shifter”. And there are a bunch more I’m sure.
@AndyDollerson5 жыл бұрын
@@KristoferProphet Ok I'll check it out. I haven''t come across anything like that when I've been using, but I'll try to break it! I'll let you know.
@AndyDollerson5 жыл бұрын
@Kristopher Prophet Hey mate - checked it out. All working fine on my setup with stereo synth, and stereo samples. A lot of those presets you mentioned have some really wide stereo delay pinging from one channel to the other, so I don't know if that's affecting how you're hearing it? Portal doesn't seem to be too heavy on the CPU, but might that also be a factor? Sorry I can't be of more help for you!
@KristoferProphet5 жыл бұрын
Andy Dollerson I have a feeling it’s CPU related, but the signal never reaches my left ear, so it’s strange, I’ll keep and eye for CPU but usually it glitches and crashes when it’s overloaded. I am using a pretty dated DAW but the fact it runs the others presets makes little sense to me. Oh well.

Is there a guitar pedal out there that is similar to what this plugin can do??
@AndyDollerson5 жыл бұрын
Hey maybe? There are several pedals that do this sort of thing, but I don’t know if they would cover quite as much sound manipulation! Here are some covered in this ace article : pedals.thedelimagazine.com/the-16-best-glitch-stutter-granular-pedals/
@cameronbreen30943 жыл бұрын
seems very similar to infinite jets
@AndyDollerson3 жыл бұрын
Yeah def some crossover there
@ear-me-now56025 жыл бұрын
Have you tried Reason Granular Synth and how does this compare? :-)
@AndyDollerson5 жыл бұрын
Hey mate I have no experience of the reason synth but from my limited knowledge of it I would guess the main difference is that the reason synth creates sound using granular synthesis that you can then play as with any other synth? Portal is written as an effect so you can affect and manipulate live or recorded sound but you can’t ‘play’ it with a keyboard. Does that make sense?
