As a Pistons fan I will kinda defend Jennings on the Pistons because after the Pistons cut Josh Smith, Jennings had the best 9 game stretch of his career resulting in a huge Pistons winning streak until he tore his achilles in I believe the last game of that streak. Idk how much differently it would’ve gone but it felt like he was breaking out during that streak into a solid PG

Too many teams do the same mistake. They start from the bottom eventually draft a good player and then get stuck in mediocrity because they cant build around him( they are not bad enough to be at the bottom, and not good enough to be contender), the player leaves in free agency because he is fed up and the club is back at the beggining. Instead of doing that they should build around that player for few years and then at the peak of his value trade him for assets, start the rebuilding again, sooner or later find another good player and then have both the assets from previous trade and the good player that wont leave because they are stuck in the middle. Its literally that simple. But the problem is NBA is business and owners are greedy they want ticket sales and they are not willing to look into the future. Team like Charlotte is a perfect example. They started from absoulte 0 in 2010 they started floating around playoff spot with Kemba in later years, and instead of trading him for assets and rebuilding with those assets they go full delusional mode and then lose him for nothing and have to start all over wasting 10 years in the process.

And also, besides the Knicks and Bulls, they are from small market teams. Those kind of teams are usually, not very appealing for top tier free agents. If LeBron wasn't from Cleveland and felt like he had to bring a title, the Cavs would be on this video for sure, because apart from going back home there's 0 chances a small market team that struggles to make the playoffs lands a superstar.

I would include the Cavs rebuild around Le Bron James after drafting him. While there may be those who argue that they got to the Finals and had a lot of playoff success along the way, most experts agree that this was due to the brilliance of Bron and that if he had better players surrounding him, he would have achieved more success. It seems he agreed with this assessment and left for Miami when his contract was up. But why would I include this rebuild if it achieved so much success? Because anytime the player you built around WANTS to leave, you know management screwed up.

That line up won 50 with Corliss Williamson as 6th man of the year off the bench and the absolutely beloved Jon Barry contributing big minutes too. That team, before Rip, Tay, Chauncey and Sheed still holds a special place in my heart. They were the underdogs of underdogs. And Uncle Spliff always was a steady force.

@@YoloTB Clifford Robinson! I'm assuming you're a younger fan as his career spanned 1990-2005 and his only all star year was in 93 or 94 I think. He had his most profile during the Clyde Drexler led Blazers. Actually if you look up the "Jordan Shrug" from the '92 Finals it is Cliff on the left side of the frame on Michael's right. He was also one of the only players to wear a headband back then before it became very popular in the early 2000s. He also made an NBA all defensive team in 2002 while on the Pistons. He was also ahead of his time in term of his range. He was 6'10" but took and hit threes quite often. He doesn't get near the credit he deserves as being one of the precursors to the Rasheed Wallace types with that range. Uncle Cliff will never be forgotten by us Pistons fans for helping getting us out of the cellar and starting something special in the early 2000s.

I wanna flag something: Brandon Jennings started kicking ass when Smith was waived. ...then he got an achilles injury, right when the Pistons were just recovering from the slump with J Smoove.

The 13-14 Suns had a 3 headed PG rotation that ultimately blew up in their face. Dragic was gone, IT flourished in Boston, and Bledsoe became a team cancer. Things are looking up now for the suns however. The Brooklyn Nets. How to throw away your future 101. Giving up 3 first round picks for a trio of past there prime players. Ouch.

I thought you were going to mention 8 different teams of the Knicks :-p Great video! Maybe it would have been interesting to go back in time even further but that's a lot more research and "bad/average" players of former eras may not be known by most of us so it would maybe be less interesting too. The Bulls Chandler + Curry centers and the Wolves missing on their guard picks and staying bad forever were the first think that came to mind when I read the title, I think I would have put the Bulls rebuild ahead of the Suns one, albeit Phoenix remained bad for longer.

nope. even though they didnt pass the second round for the last two years they were better at rebuilding than these teams mentioned.

Anthony agree, they should already be here cause “the process.” It took way to long and was based on tanking for picks every year just hoping they’d get lucky. Finally they did and now they can’t even manage that!

The Celtics nearly fit your criteria. Traded away Pierce, Garnett and Terry in the '14 season, playoffs the next year. Same with Detroit lost Grant Hill in '01 and missed the playoffs, '02 went to the second round

Hi andy! Can you make something about what happened to Larry Sanders? I think this is a good time talking about him.. a guy with so much potential to be one of the best rim protectors but vanished due to depression.. please see my comment.. i notice that you may be running out of content and some are a bit redundant in my opinion.. maybe a story of larry sanders may spice up your content.. i dont know if you featured him when he played in the cavs but this time when players are having mental health issues in the bubble, i think larry sanders topic can open up something about depression.. I always watch your videos 🙂👍👍👍
