Love the jab step. I taught my kids it. Great way to get space or to tip the defenses hand. If the d takes a step back it's jumpshot, if they step up it's a blow up dribble, if the do nothing you're still in triple treat possession and can do whatever you want. Throw in a mean shot fake and you're a threat.

@srj346 жыл бұрын
The thing about Hardaway's crossover that made it so effective was how in rhythm it was. A lot of guys, even those with great crossovers, you can see it coming. It's not the surprise factor, it's just how it's executed. With Hardaway, you can see in those clips how they just come out of nowhere because there's no lingering setup dribbles, no sizing up the defender. He's already on the move and BOOM, change of direction.
@srj346 жыл бұрын
Another tool Parker used frequently at the rim was his wrong-foot layups. Shotblockers expect the penetrator to gather the dribble and take two steps before attempting layups; Parker would shoot his layups on the first step, which is more awkward because it's the same side foot that the shot is coming from. Parker practiced it a lot to make it a more natural movement.

probably this one will be a controversial signature move that we're gonna see it in the near future: the scoop shot or shovel shot where you could shoot the ball under the rim using your 2 hands in a scooping movement without a violation of shooting a ball into the rim in a wrong way (i.e. shooting the ball UNDERNEATH the rim & deducting 2 pts on your team's score).

When I think of signature moves, I think of moves that are done alot by the player. The elbow pass was only done by Jason Williams once during the rookie game. And Pete Maravich called his pass the wrist pass, not the elbow pass, he just said that the pass was hard on his elbow. The one pass that those two guys did all the time was the behind the back pass. That is what I think of as their signature move.

You also forgot Chris Webber's spin alley oop. Chris Webber would always post up on 1 of the corners of the foul line with his back against his defender in the high post, spin in a half turn with out the ball to free up himself from his defender then point to the rim to catch that alley oop.
