dear Andy, your videos are such a delight, useful, and with rich content, thx a lot you have a huge fan ! Though i noticed something that was not exactly right or at least a bit confusing, you talked about the channels creating a subsite, 18:20 (you pointed at private channels) but it has to be that only private channels create a sort of subsites (maybe shared channels also, i'm not shure), and even then i think it just creates a site, like the other sites but i can be wrong about that.

Thanks again! What is best practise to grant permissions to a site? Is that by going into "Advanced permissions settings" and then add the users to the specific groups or via the Site - Membership? I'm also curious if you can add the users in a different way for example via M365 portal - Groups?

Do you remember when you assign permissions to Microsoft 365 groups you also add them to Microsoft teams and SharePoint sites within the scope of the group. I would suggest using the default settings i.e. owner, contributor, guest, etc. In this way, you will be consistent and not get confused. Thanks again.

I personally break inheritance on all new Document Libraries, remove all default permissions, then go back to site permissions, create 2 security groups per Document Library Name e.g Accounts-Edit and Accounts-Read. I then grant these new groups the respective permission in library permissions again. Add your users to the respective groups based on edit or read requirements then and your good to go.

Thank you for the excellent introduction. Is it possible for the site "A" which has been already assigned to the hub - site "B" to be the hub by itself as well ? (to have other sites assign to itself? - under "A" as hub site)

Thanks for your question. You can have many Hub sites but subsites are typically associated with one up site. To do otherwise could potentially cause confusion.

Hi Andy! Just a quick question regarding SharePoint Admin Center specifically the Access Control tab 25:40 (unmanaged devices, network location, etc.) Does this configuration works with just basic O365 plans? Or this needs Azure AD Premium to take effect? Thank you!

I am not a admin but I am responsible for managing documents for our different groups of customers. We have our own FP&A SharePoint TEAMS site that we use to organize our own files for collaborating and sharing of documents. What we want to do is to create a place for documents for the Capital process, Budget process, etc. Currently team members have created separate sites for these items. But I would like for these users to come to a subsite of our FPA site and give different users different access to each use. Should we leave these sites as is and perhaps make our subsite as a hubsite? Or should we just create separate pages on our subsite and manage it this way. I have not been able to find anything specific to this yet. Any ideas are greatly appreciated.

Absolutely, why don’t you create a Microsoft Teams and you can have channels. Essentially a channel automatically create a subsite within SharePoint. Channels can be private or public and have a great functionality. Just an idea

AG 3.01 it’s the gear icon on the top right. If you do t see the menu you don’t have the right permissions. Site owner would have the rights to edit 😊

Hi Andy, If a member create a share link for the folder within document library and send it to someone inside the organization then that person can access to the folder even if they don’t have access to site. How do i stop this?

I’m not sure what you mean by your question. Are you referring to the animations in my video? If so, I use a product called Camtasia studio. However, if this is not what you’re looking for, please let me know with a bit more detail.

I am using onedrive to keep my organization documents and maintaining an excel sheet for for details about status of the documents and given hyperlinks from onedrive to access documents. I tried sharepoint list instead of excel but seems not working well. Is there any better solution?

Gosh yes. Sounds like you don’t have sharepoint admin rights. Also your OneDrive is limited in size. Watch all of this video and it does explain a few things that I hope will help

OneDrive for business save all users docs into 1 place. You could great a group and make it private and add the user😊

You can share out an individual webpage from the resource area in Microsoft 365, individual letters can be shared. Hope this helps.

How to create 'Document Library' in SharePoint which the folder is from OneDrive?

Just to be clear, when you create a Microsoft 365 group or a Microsoft 365 team, it automatically creates a SharePoint document library as part of the set up. Typically, it can be up to 25TB in size. Whereas when you create a user account, it create a OneDrive for business which can be a maximum of 5TB or a minimum of 1TB
