What a roller coaster ride of a video. First I was super happy that you had a new video up 🤗. Then when the lights finally worked I'm sure you did a Happy Dance 😅🤣. The message to your kids, had me 😂🥰😭. And finally, your Dad, what a fantastic man. I can tell that you are both extremely proud of each other. 💙. Thank you Andy for taking us on this journey with you. Lastly, it is incredible to see how many people have contributed to this trailer. The Love, Support, Laughter and Thought that has gone into this trailer is truly uplifting. Thank you 💙

I got a SimpliSafe system a couple years ago. Works great! I had a little problem with cameras they fixed right away. They actually sent parts immediately, before receiving my returns, who does that these days? I like the flexibility of the components, you can set it up however you want it, add sensors, move move them around etc. set it up as simple or complicated as you want. Much better that the Big name system it replaced and monitoring is reasonably priced also. I’m not a rep for the company or anything, I just wanted to say I’m really happy with my system.

Coming along nicely, Andy! Enjoy this time with your dad. When I was 39 I did a big remodel job working 6 days per week withe my dad for several months. He carried 3/4" sheets of plywood like a mule! Now I'm 44. Dad's had four brain surgeries and 2 heart surgeries in the past 2 yrs and has trouble walking. He's definitely not fit to be on a jobsite. My, how quickly things can change! You're making very special memories, wether you realize it right now or not. Cherish every minute of it!!!

As with anything you do, the prep work is the most important. The finish is merely the cover up of everything you did preparing for that finish. So the prep work IS the real important step. Thumbs Up!

Thanks again for sharing Andy looks great. Have a nice day. Hope everyone stays safe in the gulf coast. I survived hurricane Alicia in 1983. I was living Just off of I 45 in South Houston. I had never experienced how amazingly powerful nature can be. It spawned tornados one after another. One of the twisters sucked the water right out the in ground swimming pool out side of my apartment and dumped it on to another apartment building and collapsed the whole second floor. No one was there and no got hurt. I had never seen tornados here in Pennsylvania but a year after I moved back to Pennsylvania 1985 we had a massive storm system come through that spawned at least five very powerful twisters that killed quite a few people. And did millions in damage. Sorry to go long but even after some 40 years I still look back in amazement.

Enjoy your videos Andy... I have been having my own issues with an older Rockwood where they originally used OSB (aspencrap) to finish around the slide openings. Of course it got wet, and of course it swelled, and of course it got moldy... And of course I am not replacing it with the same materials. In actual fact, I cannot believe the original shoddy workmanship of the trailer. I'm told that it's the industry norm except if you purchase an Airstream...

I'd consider using something like Great Stuff (Pro) spray foam to fill the space between the insulation panels and aluminum ribs and any other gaps. The Pro gun gives you amazing control regarding bead size and placement as compared to the cans with the straws. I'd also consider putting something on the aluminum ribs to thermally isolate them from the interior framing/paneling. Having a thermal break can make a huge difference... As you well know from working on the trailer the heat transfers through the aluminum very easily. You want to try to stop it from reaching the inside of the trailer (same goes for cold if you travel somewhere cold).

I don’t know if you are doing his or not. But you should get the gun and foam at Home Depot and spray around the edges of the foam to seal and secure it. It’s really nice to adjust down to an 8th inch bead. Usually at hd on Sheetrock supply isle. Expands foam. In the big cans. Not the self contained kind but the one that screws on to a 50.00 Gun. Works awesome. Controlled and very precise

I wonder how hot it is in that thing in Texas in the summer without insulation it's gotta be well over 100F in there I bet it got much cooler when they got the insulation installed.
@hobbyaddict99084 жыл бұрын
FWIW, marine grade wire has the conductors (actual copper wire) tinned or coated with a thin layer of tin. This helps eliminate corrosion. Making the installation much more permanent in severe situations such as boats and RVs, A bit more expensive initially but the long term payoff is fantastic.

I dont know where you live but where I live (northern of Sweden) fiber glass and all other wooly insulation is a big NONO on RVs. When the temp goes up and down moisture creates and accumulates in the wool. It will probably work fine for you as I guess you live in a sunny dry area. At least dont use it on low spots because there is the real trap for the water, and thats where you have the floor. Wood and water is never a good thing. Love your work 👍🏿🤜🏻🤙🏿

You going to have a very nice custom camper but seeing your skills I have to wonder if you applied your time to what you excel at and charged a real rate for your time would it be more financially correct to buy a new Airstream camper ready to go? Or does it pencil out that you will have a very nice camper at nice savings from the cost of a new one, and I know there will be some "I did it myself satisfaction" in the completed camper.?
@sharonoddlyenough4 жыл бұрын
If everyone only did projects if the calculations lined up as you say, there would be far fewer vintage trailers, cars, etc. restored.
@xx15904 жыл бұрын
@@sharonoddlyenough Possibly true but I do not see that makes any difference in how our world goes around. I have known and seen MANY people who fill their yards with junk that could be restored but is not, let's call them faded dreams. Most people have dreams of restoring something or doing the unusual and they never happen. That is what life is all about, I was just curious what a guy with some obvious talents thought about the project being as feasible as he did when he started so sure he was going to be way ahead on the rebuild and have an economical camper for his family.
