Alls I know is that the people of this day and age need to really listen to this song because it's probably more important now than it has ever been to remember what rocking in the free world REALLY MEANS

I think of this song each time I ride the city buses / trolleys in San Diego , CA and see homeless people along the streets some in tents some sleeping on the concrete in their shoes . Same in Minneapolis & St.Paul Minnesota and when I'm in Fort Lauderdale Florida and when I was in St.Louis Missouri .

@@timmyjones1921 It's truly breathtaking world full of wonder as deep as you wanted to go and is grand as you can dream but I would be remiss to call it perfect when it's so hard to dismiss the presense of pure evil that has leveraged its position expertly as though it was being beckoned to and in a lot of ways it is by a group of elites with enough money and enough time on their hands and generations of family history to use as a jumping point for the steps that need to be taken from generation to generation to help ensure the family survival and unfortunately with the creation of America as a bastion for good in the world to be seen and admired by all for our system of governing, That's made it so successful, calling to the people in the world with an extra dimension to them marked by there desire to live where 'we the people" stood in the face of Tyranny and immense power and said no more!!! someone must make sure you aren't forcing people to do things and making people live a life that's anything but the life they would choose for themselves stand as the true indication of a country's existenceas to assume that they could make plans for the entirety of our palmost underbellyas easy to see and objectively observe if you have the right kind of eyes the chaotic nature of our existence on this bidding blue globe is all a gigantic game being played by people in powerful positions for their world is as cutthroat and in your face is ours is there have been major players in this global game of control, manipulate destroyas and if you can't see it perhaps It's not because it's invisible it's because the programming has got you believing it isn't what the other ponds think it is because that's what we are ponds and as we in Mass power in our own little world we become stronger pieces to be mused and thrown across the board and gotten rid of as nonchalantly and and unceremoniously as they can muster so as not to be seen by the other players as weak.

If not for a [relatively] strong family structure, I'd have been homeless at least on one occasion (lockdown -- being stuck in a different country, and virtually unemployed -- very reduced hours). I'm so grateful for it. The folks that say, 'live with your choices' etc. haven't got a clue what it's like to be living pay check to pay check. It's nothing to do with your choices -- one cataclysmic event can destroy everything.

It may depend on the individual. Almost every bad thing that has ever happened to me stemmed from my actions or inactions.

@@lsunav Since writing my original comment, I've been unexpectedly widowed. My spouse had a private pension survivors clause. Again, I didn't do anything to get/deserve this money ($30k) [any more than I did anything to deserve to be widowed at 34], but without it, I'd have had to go back to work within a few weeks, probably end up getting fired.... and God knows where that course of events would have ended up. I'm not saying your choices don't matter, but outside forces play a huge role in life outcomes.

Couple of weeks ago, they cancelled a concert in Vienna due to a threat of terror attack. Although not my favorite singer, still annoyed thinking people might be hurt just because they want to enjoy concert of the music they love. This is not how it suppose to be. We should not be scared to live, to be free, and to enjoy the music we love ! Those who doesn't share those values, who able to hurt others in the name of religion, who wish to make other miserable just to promote their religion - should not be part of the western world. Keep on rockin' in the free world !

Yes, but if the Arabs try to block the Suez Canal.. and cut off Europe's supply of oil, Israel will do Europe a favor and open it again. And Israel will likely try to stop Iran from building a nuclear warhead.. if it sees a chance. Israel is a Western ally, and it is not an accident. That being said, I share your values.. but it is important to see where the other side is coming from.

There are colors on the street Red, white, and blue People shufflin' their feet People sleepin' in their shoes There's a warning sign on the road ahead There's a lot of people saying we'd be better off dead Don't feel like Satan, but I am to them So I try to forget it any way I can Keep on rockin' in the free world (4x) I see a woman in the night With a baby in her hand There's an old street light (near a garbage can) Near a garbage can (near a garbage can) Now she put the kid away and she's gone to get a hit She hates her life and what she's done to it There's one more kid that'll never go to school Never get to fall in love, never get to be cool Keep on rockin' in the free world (4x) We have a thousand points of light For the homeless man We got a kinder, gentler machine gun hand We've got department stores and toilet paper Got styrofoam boxes for the ozone layer A man of the people says, "Keep hope alive" Got fuel to burn, got roads to drive Keep on rockin' in the free world (4x)

This was before smartphones or digital cameras were invented. Those are early battery powered TVs. The point of the song is that people are ignoring the suffering of others. Knowing about it is the first step in fixing it. The homeless prophet is standing on a mound of garbage declaring this to the world. Of note, that comment about the ozone layer in one scene? We don't hear about it anymore because we actually fixed the problem. Now for racism and poverty.
@janetduncan87

@@brianharrison8903 I don't know about fixing the ozone layer. I look at that as another lie to scare the masses. As well as 911. The gasoline shortage was/is another lie, ice age, and now the global warming is just another dupe to getting ppl to believe what they say. To keep them in fear. It's how the people are fooled.

I love this song, and Neil Young, he's the best story teller that ever lived. He really takes you on a journey through his music..The video is amazing. The people in our counrty complain but,at least we have our freedom and can live to see our dreams come true. We can listen to our music our way. We have the right to keep on rockin in the free world 🌎.
