I head 60km offshore in a small boat to remote islands on a solo boat camping trip where I catch some huge fish and cook them up. I caught big mackerel and bigger Giant Trevally on Samson lures.
This is my video food journal or video food diary of delicious freshly caught foods in the wild, by the sometimes semi naked chef! #fishing #wildcook #catchandcook

The plant at 23:46 is Tradescantia Spathacea(oyster plant). Native to south/central America. Introduced to many countries as an ornamental and has become invasive. It must have drifted to the island. It's spread through a lot of islands/countries in the Pacific by drifting long distances in the ocean. A bit of a worry to see it growing there.
@Andysfishing
@Andysfishing 3 жыл бұрын
Yes I’ve also heard it referred to as Boat Lily which makes sense because it must get flashed out of the rivers and into the ocean and then onto the island next time I go there I’ll remove as many as I can

Hey Andy, I believe that the pink and green plant you found on the beach was called “Moses in the Cradle” a d if that is what it is then its not a native of Australia, it comes from Southern Mexico and is considered toxic to humans and pets. Despite this it is a fairly popular house plant.

Those are interesting lures, Andy. Very similar to the GT Icecreams from South Africa which are made from white Teflon. I enjoy your passion for wildlife, and flora. The plant you found with the purple and green spikey leafs is a non-native from South America: The oyster plant (Tradescantia spathacea) is known by many common names, including boat lily, purple-leaved spiderwort, and Moses-in-the-cradle. ... This plant is native to tropical regions, including Belize, Mexico and Guatemala.

Nice vid mate! Gotta love getting wrecked by the big GTs hahaha. For future reference, that was definitely a grey mackerel (broad-barred) as opposed to a spanish (narrow-barred). They're a bit harder to come by so nicely done!!!
@Andysfishing
@Andysfishing 3 жыл бұрын
Yes quite a few people have pointed out that it was a grey mackerel, and I did think it was odd that it had a really black dorsal fin. But at the time in the rush at the moment I just went with Spanish. I’ll head out there again for a rematch on those big GT

Just so you know, that wasn't a Spanish mackerel, it was a Grey/Broad bar Mackerel (Scomberomorus semifasciatus), an inshore orientated tropical species and easily distinguished from the Spanish (narrow bar) mack by their massive second dorsal and anal fin large tail for the size of the fish and the jet black first dorsal. Great vid man, thought id just let you know for future ventures 🤙🏽🎣
