G'day Andy. Love your videos. I'm quite jealous of what you can access in Britain. Here in Australia, the quarantine laws are very restrictive. I may be in Britain soon and would like to meet you and talk fish with another genuine, fellow fish fancier. Don't stop waffling Woods. It's what makes you real.

Hi Andy. Enjoy the videos. Air-powered sponge filters are not very effective for heavy feeders like cichlids, but I understand why you use them in the fish room. Have you considered using longer uplift tubes, as this would increase the suction power of the filters. This is explained by Boyle's Law.
@kasperkjrsgaard14477 ай бұрын
I know it’s two years later but I would recomend the Hamburger Matten Filter paired with the czech airlift tube. Highly effective and reasonable quiet too. Placed on the end and with two airlifts they’re effective enough for a VERY big tank.

@@andywoodscichlids2942 I had sponge filters in all of them and hang on backs on half with activated carbon. Do you have to do more water changes on your tanks with just sponge filters than the others? If I don’t do more frequent water changes on those they start to smell because they don’t have the carbon filtration. Could I possibly be doing something wrong with them? My ten year older son really became interested in fish keeping so we started to add a couple of tanks to support his interest so I’m trying to learn as much as I can about multiple different setups so I can teach him and also to help him learn how to research and find the information needed. Tomocichla asfraci are one of the most rarest central cichlids in the hobby. All can be traced back to the same breeder here in the UK. Even the ones on Dan's list at cichlids of the americas a wile back came from the same breeder in the UK. I'd never be able to find unrelated. Ever time you do the home work and research it always leads back to the same original parents.
