Thank you 🙏🏻 so much for making this video!! I feel so angry hearing this because I have been telling my doctors for years when I’ve had heart palpitations, flip flopping heart, and racing heart. They didn’t check my iron levels. After hearing another KZbin video, I just recently asked my doctor to check my iron and ferritin. They were both low, and they told me to take iron. I’m just outraged that I’ve told doctors my symptoms, and it took s KZbin video to get the proper help. Now, after this video, I’m going to ask my doctor to check my B12 and folate as well. Ive encountered so many incompetent doctors over the years whose lack of knowledge has caused me harm. I’m glad I found you. Thank you!

Thank you. Thank you so much for this very informative and important video. I’m amazed by the lack of basic bloodwork and digging the Drs in my area have when it comes to figuring out the root cause of symptoms. I have been dealing with rapid HR, palpitations, dizziness upon standing, SOB, cold hands and feet for YEARS and have been dismissed by so many Drs saying it’s “anxiety and stress” until my recent iron levels showed how low they were and my Dr still says they aren’t what’s causing my symptoms 😅 even though I’m 99% sure it is. I started taking ferrous but it has been really hard on my stomach, but anyways. Thank you for giving clarity to this very overlooked issue and for giving me hope to seek out better answers and a plan to start healing. Blessings to you and anyone else going through this❤️✨

Thanks so much for this video. After 5 years on omeprazole I started experiencing dizziness, palpitations, fatigue and a whole host of other symptoms. My ferritin was tested and turned out to be 5. My GP put me on iron but 3 years later it had not gone up at all. I did my own research and chose to come off omeprazole because of the link with nutritional deficiencies. 6 months later my ferritin is up to 80!! My GP still does not believe omeprazole causes anaemia, despite these results! I wish I had never gone on omeprazole. I was diagnosed with a hiatal hernia in 2010 and told to take it. I manage completely fine without it, no heartburn at all. Unfortunately although my ferritin is back up to 80 I am still having lots of symptoms of anaemia. I think it's going to be a slow road to getting back to normal, since I was on this drug for five years! My point is it's a shame that not all GP's recognise this link.

You know this really concerns me too. Ive told my doctor about this too but she dismisses my concerns and says that shes also taking omeprazole and shes not experiencing the same symptoms i an going through. She does not seem to believe me that its happening to me. Ive been in and out of emergency room for the past 5 months. And i even went to see a gi doctor but he doesnt seem to believe also my concern with ppi intake. Once again he prescribed me to on ppi again...this time for one month. But im only days taking this now and i feel so worse physically. Plus i catched viral last week and it only fueled to my feeling weakness. I dont know what else to do and i dont know where doctor should i go to now cause both of them dont seem to believe me.

GET OFF of these PPI’s immediately. They are KILLERS. I’ve been on them for years and am currently doing all that is humanly possible to get off of them ! I’ve had many Doctors in the past and NOT ONE has suggested I try to get off of these drugs because they are paid off by Big Pharma ! Massive Class Action lawsuits are coming soon against these companies, mark my words ! Lots of people have died because of the long term effects of drugs like Prilosec and Nexium etc.

I had long-term chronic pain and inflammation of oesophagus due to reflux (I usually ignore pain and avoid doctors unless its an emergency). It finally got so bad I ended up in an ambulance with what i thought was a heart attack as my heart was going bonkers and I had a different clenching pain right behind my sternum, not where i usually had reflux pain. That episode forced me to go see a GP, who put me on a PPI, which was good as it gave my oesophagus a chance to heal. But he missed my low (anaemic) Hb result on the blood test, failed to order iron studies until i saw my low Hb and brought attention to it. Then he failed to interpret the iron studies as a deficiency. He didn't ask me any basic questions re clinical symptoms of anaemia or iron deficiency - my hair was falling out in chunks, long term episodes of deep fatigue, weakness, paleness - none of which i knew was relevant to mention at the time, but HE should have known to ask, he's the doctor). So I was forced to do my own research online. I learned about how both chronic inflammation and PPI prevent iron uptake, diagnosed myself as anaemic and iron deficient based on published guidelines, (my b12 and folate are fine btw, mine is a problem of iron uptake). Then I weaned off the PPI to restore stomach acid so i could begin to address the iron deficiency with a trial of liposomal iron plus iron-rich foods. I still have reflux of course, i am trying alternative medicine and diet changes to minimise acid damage to my oesophagus. I will find a better doctor (a functional medicine doctor: they are thorough and can think outside the box most GP's stay in). If oral iron replenishment fails after 3 months I will get the injections. I will get an endoscopy done too. I also learned that inflammation can increase ferritin levels, which can fool a doctor who relies on pathology report "normal" ranges into thinking "ferritin is normal, therefore no deficiency". Everything on my iron studies report was out of normal range except ferritin - BUT I had long-term inflammation of the oesophagus, possibly with some bleeding. Plus I was knocked down with Covid for a month, so even more inflammation.

I was taking PPIs and my ferritin was low and was diagnosed as anemic. I then had a gastroscopy and a colonoscopy as my doctor thought I had internal bleeding. I asked her if it was perhaps because of the PPIs and she said no. They found polyps in my stomach and the gastro doctor said that it was from the PPIs. I decided to stop alcohol and stopped eating carbs (keto/carnivore) and I no longer have heartburn and no longer take PPIs No doctor found this relation between lifestyle and diet as part of my problem. They were all happy to just medicate me. They told me that I would be taking PPIs for life. So, if you care about your health, look into why you’re getting heartburn and eliminate those triggers. Vegetables and carbs can cause a lot of problems. It was difficult for me to accept that the vegetables I love eating were causing me harm. Peace and health to you all!

Also people that have MTHFR gene snip that do not absorb some food groups and B12/folate. Thank you so much for all your wonderful videos which are really helping me to understand why the heart can get so excited and what all these strange symptoms might mean. As so many others have already mentioned, you have spent so much time carefully and sympathetically explaining the way our hearts work and describing the individual arrhythmias (PVCS, SVTS, PACS, AFIB ETC.) If doctors had taken the trouble to explain all this to me it could have saved a lot of unnecessary fear, but alas time is so limited during a consultation. Fortunately I now have a loop recorder LINQ implanted which will help my cardiologist to confirm what it is, where it is coming from and what might be the best treatment.

I had small hernia diagnosed given pump inhibitors. Well.. coz of stress and not knowing wehat was going on I had same breathing issues.. The gastro-doc said breathing problem not connected to my hernia . After research I realized I might need B12 injection so I went for it. Two times, and after that I forgot about this B12 relation ( i felt fine and started to cycling more ). I was fine until I started to have just small palpitation and upper body irritability later the palp's increased to the point where I am now! I cannot sleep because my heart flutters and every time I do little movment it needs to do a catch up like an old engine or something. I must add I am or I was a middle range MTB biker active person who loved uphill biking and endurance trainings. So my heart is healthy..or I believe so.. Now I noticed symptoms like constant palpitations. ( i must add that I lost my appetite and lost 12kg in 2 moths ) I have irritability and sort of nervous shaking and feeling in my upper body. My muscle mass gone significantly as well.. I changed in body shape quiet a lot wearing clothes that didnt fit for 10years. My arms feel week and thin. Skin color might have changed but hard to tell because of my sun tan. My only hope again.. that I need B12 an lots of it now. Hopefully my problems gonna go away doc. @elainetreagus7040
@elainetreagus7040 4 жыл бұрын
I was told my hiatus hernia is only about 3 cms but i believe it varies so maybe it’s a sliding one. My mum has a sliding hiatus hernia ever since her gallbladder removal. Not sure if there’s a link there, but I’ve also had a very tricky long operation to remove my gallbladder. Apparently my organs were displaced for keyhole surgery or something strange as the Surgeon told me after. Ever since I’ve been poorly and had b12 deficiency so put on jabs every few months. I then years later had a c section and had some sort of attack during the closing up bit. They didn’t know what was wrong later found tia but could have been a pots attack during surgery. I’ve in the last year had a pots diagnosis at UCHL but I’m not a fainter and had a failed TTT. Since having these pots type symptoms I’ve had sickness digestion and blood flow issues and a strange functioning bowel (when it chooses to empty) I have noticed issues with ectopics pvc’s when the bowel doesn’t empty for a while or my stomach appears to stop digesting. but I since that c section also get random jumping up at night with racing heart (must be more than double my resting) weakness in legs and sometimes chest discomfort and tingling and right sided numbness in face and limbs. I do notice I’m also worse on taking PPI medication which leads me to believe I may actually have one of three things (gastroperesis I’ve had slow transit confirmed, from tablet swallow! / maybe low stomach acid and not high as presumed, or on taking the ppis that my magnesium levels drop further maybe causing palpitations, which I’ve seen can happen in one of your videos). To make matters more complicated for me I also have ankylosing spondylitis and I’m a dairy free vegetarian. To my knowledge I’m not hypermobile in the classic form but have flat feet stretchy wide veins in my legs (if I wear a wedge shoe for a while then remove the shoes I get palpitations and feel very potsy, same if up with pressure on my feet. I did not get the same pressure feeling in my feet and legs on the TTT as my feet didn’t seem to be taking the weight of standing, and this may have so relevance. My veins are almost invisible everywhere else and hard to find for bloods and I have smooth velvety skin. So I’ve been told.

@julesrox7538

Open up the capsule and pour a small amount out each day. Gradually increase very slowly over months, not days, until there is hardly any contents in the capsules left. If you get heartburn after eating try taking beataine hydrochloric acid. Take 1 tablet and see if heartburn goes if not take another until you get relief as according to the dosage on the bottle. When you try to stop PPIs you get rebound heartburn worse than the original problem. I heard that you develop more pumps because your body is trying to produce acid and is prevented from doing so, so when you stop taking PPIs the pumps all kick in and produce too much acid. Incidentally, most problems regarding acid reflux etc are originally due to too little stomach acid.

Hi Dr Gupta, About 2 years ago I had AF and was admitted. I self cardioverted, and was prescribed 50mg atenolol and kids aspirin. This year I had some weird chest feelings (like stuck burps, and occasional single 'pumps' of adrenaline and momentary light headedness...except my heart rate felt normal). I decided to see a second consultant who told me to come off the aspirin and prescribed a PPI to see if it was GERD for a couple of weeks to see if it helped. I also had a CTA which was 0% blockages. I also had a gastroendoscopy which also showed nothing. I do however have my first baby on the way, so wonder if it is anxiety, but dont 'feel' anxious and my heart rate also doesn't feel like it used to when excited or scared. Can anxiety cause these 'burp' and momentary light head? my pulse always seems normal when it happens.. Thanks for posting these videos too!
