I've seen that step back from players like Daron Williams and James Harden before, but the best thing about this one is how Penny put to moves together so smooth it looked like one fluid move. He went for the spin move, saw the defender shook and went to the step back. One of the best moves I ever saw.

@facemobb02 You either don't play ball or can't see. He started the move outside the line and ended inside. By today's standard it would be considered a bad shot. So no the move didn't end where it started and it wasn't a full 180 spin either, since Penny adjusted to the defender.

During the height of the Michael Jordan era and his brief retirement period, during the 1994 and 1995 NBA seasons my favourite players to watch offensively was Grant Hill and Penny Hardaway. These 2 guys were unbelievable! How good would they have been if it wasn't for the curse of injuries. What could've been. I am very confident they would have won multiple NBA titles. Anfernee Hardaway was a multi- talented and a versatile basketball player that can play both guard positions and sometimes the small forward position. His post-up shake move, drop-step fadeaway turnaround jumper was virtually unstoppable. No one could guard him. He played at lot like Pistol Pete Marivich, Rick Barry and Magic Johnson, and Phil Collins. He was a unselfish player that had a pass first, shoot second mentality. He was a fundamentally sound basketball player with deceptive quickness with the ball. He thrived on defense, too.

He'd be right up there with Magic, Curry & Isiah. Skill wise he's up there with the best of them. I'd say Magic, Curry, Isiah, D.Rose, Penny, Kyrie, Lillard, CP3, Arenas, Westbrook, Payton & Morant are the 12 most skilled point guards I've ever seen.

This is how good Penny is, this 1996-97 Heat team is a very tough team to beat. They could win championship(s) in this era. Coached by Pat Riley, Mourning stands at 6'10 could be selected as a 1st team center, shooters like Majerle, Leonard, not sure if it includes Mashburn, not only great shooters but tough defenders also. Tim hardaway better than prime KYrie Irving at that time. At this video, Penny just came from a very bad injury. The injury that slowed down his career.
