There is alot of reasons for atleast wanting top 4 if you cant win the league, the money you will make from it, the ability to attract better players wanting Champions League football, and the goal of the club to want to be playing in the highest compitions in the world, i see Tottenham have just settled for mediocrity, Ange has every right to have a go at Fans if the fans weren't acting the way they did i think it would have been a different story. The fact that every other club in the premier league is laughing at Tottenham and the antics they showed, proves every thing wrong with the club.

True, top 4 is not a myth, just watch how Aston Villa's players and manager celebrated qualifying. Watch how long Arsenal struggled to get back to that level. Being in the biggest club football competition can do wonders for any club.

Thanks from a Spurs fan. Ange had already said a few games ago that top 4 was not a trophy & it wouldn't assist doing well in the league. It seems like, with the change in set up in this game specifically, that this was a bigger game for Ange than Arsenal. He probably got wound up by the media, talk around the club & the fan near the dugout last night (who was admittedly over the top), about not winning. I saw on the bluemoon threads that most City fans wouldn't have wanted to set up Man U for the title. Some even said they thought Man U rolled over for Arsenal.

He said that CL football in ot itself would assist in improving as a club and squad. Application and progress is the only thing that can do this and that can be done in CL or not. Spurs have the ability to spend 200m without CL this year

Postecoglou didn't say anything about top 4. The missing mentality that you go into every game to win it is what he is frustrated at. He doesn't care about bragging rights as it doesn't put trophies in the cabinet - the mentality of winning every game can do and trophies are the only brag he cares about. Looking across the road at what your rivals are doing is small minded when you should focus on your own club. The way to stop Arsenal from getting the title would have been for us to beat them in the NLD, not to throw the Man City game in hope that it will allow them to go on and win the trophy and it's pathetic that some fans were celebrating City goals in our own stadium because of this
