The “lamp shade” started as a 5” round 1” thick 6061 hockey puck. I bored it out to fit over the Clausing’s 2.5” quill and put a 45-degree angle on it outside and in, and did an undercut that the LED’s tabs would snap into. I pretty much free-handed it and didn't bother to do a video. Made a wastebasket full of aluminum shavings, which always makes me feel guilty.

Thank you. I shot some video of the SPDT momentary toggle switch that I added to the lathe that I need to put together and post. A tactile switch for changing feed direction mounted in front of the headstock is very nice, and I should have done it sooner. I may get that up later today.

Ordered the led's and both power supplies. May have another use for the larger supply. Will see what I can scrounge up for the shade before I sacrifice a chunk of aluminum. I have the Clausing 8530 model. The extra light will be great.

That is a great light and a good way to mount it. The first time I saw something like that was when ChrisB257 made a light with the angel eyes for his mill. I started looking for something to fit mine but could not find the right size so I have a second best light.

The "Qasim" that I bought comes in 10mm increments from 60 to 120mm, and a pair of the 120's only costs $13. I started off with 110mm, realized it was too big, and downsized to 100mm. Lopped the 12V regulator off of one and hooked it up to my bench supply in constant current mode. It drew a little over 200ma with the 12V regulator and I tested up to 900ma, but decided 450 ought to be sufficient. On the bench supply at 450ma I think it was sitting at about 8.6V. The light's blue-ish, but I figure I can put up with it the way my eyes are going.
