I love how just the mention of her name always got Angel all emotional. And on top of that, I like how they subtely implied Cordelia's grief of losing Buffy too. She seemed like she was about to cry when she said "I miss her too" while she was trying to comfort Angel, and even when Angel wasn't around she wasn't comfortable with "the B word" and then here she seemed ecstatic to know that Buffy was back. I just love it.

Buffy died a lot, i saw where people are at numbers like 2 times and 3 times, but technically, she died at the end of season 1, and at the end of season 5, and i have seen people counting her death in The Wish so that would be 3 and if you're gonna count that you might as well count when she died in the season 1 episode Nightmares when the master buried her alive and she came out as a vampire, also you can count Normal Again from season 6 when Buffy is torn between the reality of being in a mental institution and her normal self and the episode ends showing Buffy catatonic signaling something similar to what could be assumed brain death in that reality, and also she died after Warren shot her in Seeing Red when Willow came in she flatlined.

It's awesome that even though Angel did seem to move on in LA and fall for Cordelia, a part of him still loved Buffy. Even in the series finale of Buffy and the final season of Angel, he still dropped everything to go to her aid. I dont understand why they couldnt be endgame. I know when Buffy switched to UPN, it made it harder for the two shows (Angel still belonging to the WB) for the characters to cross over. But Spike was not her true love. And nothing waa going to change that no matter how hard Spike tried (which he pretty much admits during his final sacrifice on Buffy). Angel will always be Buffy's one true love. And Cordelia was great and all with Angel, but even their relationship didnt come close to the passion he shared with Buffy. I personally think that was the biggest flaw of the Buffyverse, not fighting harder for the two to find their way back to one another :( (not including the comics)

Actually Spike was her true love. Even in the comics they got together. Angel was the first love, Spike was the mature love. And Spike was the better man and vampire, Angel without a soul wanted to kill her, Spike without his soul still loved her.

I'm not going to discredit your opinions, but I want to share my own: Rewatching this as an adult, I no longer felt the fun tinglies of first love watching their romance...because I couldn't get over the hurdle of her being seventeen and in her first serious relationship with a guy 27 + 200 years old. I started seeing all his romantic lines and gestures as an intricate seduction of a naive virgin, like he was preying on her subconsciously. Like Buffy fit the mold of the victims Angelus preferred...it was just too creepy. And when it wasn't creepy, it was either boring or sappy. Slapping the "true love" label on it didn't make it any more convincing. I also got the feeling he saw her as a tool for his own redemption, at least in the beginning, which was sorta selfish. And at the end, he was always doing things "for her own good" like he finally relized she was underaged and not as good at judgment as he initially thought.

@@Sirena101 Actually, rewatching it again myself, I sort of rescind what I said before lol. Im now almost 28. I saw Buffy when I (like most people) was maybe around 13. Angel and Buffy's love was what I thought true love embodied (Same with Piper and Leo from Charmed). But now after watching him literally break up with her before prom, then getting bratty because she didnt want to see him or his help with slaying, then him saying he wanted to stay when he was under the poison, then him just like up and leaving was just a dick move to make. After eveerything she did for him. She took him back against her friends and family's wishes when he came back, she saved him from offing himself from the First, she let him drink off her almost to death curing him from the poison.... He was the one who came into her life. Asshole, after stalking her when she was only 15 (barffff). I get he left to give her a normal life, but like he didnt even fight for her after that. He didnt even look for a cure for vampirism. Even when he became human in I Will Always Remember You episode on his show, he asked the oracles to be turned back just so he could remain a vampire. Then, there's Riley, the biggest man pussy ever. I just saw the scene where Spike got his soul back and that was the most beautiful thing I have ever seen someone do for Buffy (even though he tired to rape her lol). So, it's actually Spike for be now. But at the same time not one of those three boys deserved her. Maybe Spike, but she was better off finding someone away from the whole demon life.

I feel like it kind of had to happen that way. Angel would have wanted to comfort her after being in Hell the way she did for him when he came back, and she just got pulled out of heaven. That would have been the most painful reunion imaginable, because Buffy would have been desperate for the comfort Angel usually provides, but wouldn't have been able to tell him the extent of her pain. I can't imagine them being able to write that scene out in a satisfying way.

@@timolee It absolutely would. Season 1 relied heavily on Buffy character appearances (Oz, Spike, Buffy) and the show suffered for it. The show massively improved when it started building its own stories and characters, or allowing characters like Darla, Cordelia, and Wesley to evolve and change OUTSIDE the Sunnydale stories. If you do it all the time, it lacks meaning. When Willow showed up -- after a long stretch without crossovers -- it had IMPACT. It meant something important. The same happened when Faith returned in season 4. Her appearance meant something. Just because it's part of a universe doesn't mean it has to have constant reminders and guest appearances. Your idea of Giles and Wesley interacting is interesting (especially when you consider Wesley's evolution during the course of Angel), but Anya and Cordelia? That's a crossover driven by nothing. Was there any indication that Cordelia and Xander even kept in touch? People move on after high school. (Clearly, Cordy didn't pay that much attention, because she didn't know about Harmony being a vampire or Willow dating Tara.) More crossovers are just fan service gone too far. Buffy Season 8 in the comics WAY overdid the cameos and the storyline suffered for it.

She came across more as being disappointed to me. Fred liked Angel and thought that with Buffy out of the way, she had a shot.

@weiirdOzdotFU almost, obviously angel and spike aren't in it all the way, they do come in some of it though but its more about all the potentials being actual slayers. So yeah kinda :P It's good. I miss seeing their faces though :( ha
