I have this movie, I saw it on TCM the first time and loved it so I bought it on the web. One of my favorites, Paul Muni is, was great in all his roles. Another great movie to watch with him is, I am a fugitive on a chain gang, fantastic!

It mighg be a movie,but if you take out the comedy part,the rest is 100% real and true. You might haven't seen a demon yet,but that doesn't mean they do not exist and act,almost exactly as shown on this film.

Interesting that the title is different; must have been changed? Thank-You for this, I loved it; such great acting, writing, directing, cinematography,…! Kinda reminds Me of ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’, but I liked it better. ‘Eddie’ won Me over completely, the Actor did SUCH a Great job - running the whole gamut of emotions; heartwarming-humour and endearing charm, and excellent character-development. The only thing I would change would be to add a final-twist, reflecting Truth/Reality; …’there is no-greater Love than this: that a man shall lay-down his Life for Another’. ☺️🫶🏼 Thank-You for this!!!

At the wrap party for this movie in 1946, my grandfather (an electrician) was found dead. A true Hollywood story that I am researching about Edward "Eddie" W. Gray. All three leading actors were at the party thrown by Paul Muni. A newspaper article said my grandfather was "twice drunk" and fell off the "Hell" set to his death.

@@brocktoon8 Well, the Bible, Old and New Testament is pretty clear that there are no "do-overs" when it comes to Eternity. Even Jesus, great Forgiver of Sinners was pretty explicit about who gets into heaven and under what circumstances. Read the parable of the Wedding Feast (heaven). Or the parable of the rich man and the beggar, Dives. The both die, one goes to hell and the other to heaven. Forever. On the entrance to Hell, it is written : "Abandon hope all ye who enter here". So, biblically speaking, the short answer is No.

This film never interested me before and I almost didn't watch it. Now I'm glad I did. It was very good and well-acted, with a great moral. Ethics remain important even in these times of turmoil. The Bible verses that the minister is using for his sermon come from the Book of Matthew, chapter 18, verses 6-8: “But whoever causes the downfall of one of these little ones who believe in Me-it would be better for him if a heavy millstone were hung around his neck and he were drowned in the depths of the sea! Woe to the world because of offenses. For offenses must come, but woe to that man by whom the offense comes." Jesus is warning his disciples and us in 2023 that we must live in this world humbly and never lead anyone away from the truth. If you are such a person who leads others astray, then your fate is dire. What films today try to teach morality, kindness, goodness? This film was an hour and 41 minutes well spent. Thanks, CCC, for posting it.
