We are a patriarchal culture and majority of men use these so call rules to govern women and scare women. I am so proud of you for seeing that we women do not have to accept it!! Lady, you talk about how modern you are, but I still hear that tint of wanting to please your in-laws, friends, and extended family. You took all your dishes so you can provide for your husband's guest for his face. Girl, I'm way over that too. I cook when I want and feel like it. He cooks and cleans when he has the time. We occasionally go to family functions, but for the most part, we value our weekends and do short weekend trips out of town either by ourselves or with a few couples. When we have gatherings, the men do all the cooking and we both clean our house. My husband knows that the one time he cheats on me, the marriage is over. There's no me waiting for a year for him to return. I am nearly 50 years of old. There's no sense in wanting to keep a man who doesn't want to be kept. A man has to want you beyond your look, for your physical beauty and health will slowly fade away. He has to want your soul, your being.
