I recalled one Hmong American spent $300,000 for his Hmong Lao wife buying her and her parents everything such as land, house, trucks and even opened 3 businesses for his Hmong Lao wife and her family. Last year, she married a Hmong Lao before dumping him. The Hmong American asked for his $300,000 back but her father said if he want's it, come to Laos but "muaj taw los tsis muaj taw rov". The Hmong American even hired a Hmong Lao lawyer to get his money back but I doubt he will win. Even if he wins, I doubt he will get any $ back.

Someone should do a study, gather statistics, on how many teen brides from Laos are in the US, how many are still married, how many are divorced, how many are widowed, how many sponsored their parents and extended family into the US (chain immigration), how much money they send back to Laos, etc and also a study on how many Hmong Americans who came to the US as a refugee are divorced. I wouldn't be surprise if they number of teen brides who are divorced are higher than the number of Hmong American refugees who are divorced. I also wouldn't be surprise if the number of Hmong American refugees who are divorced is higher than than national average (Americans).
