You cannot tell anyone what to do with their life. Drugs isn't an easy addiction to kick. You cannot help anyone who doesn't want to help themselves. I've seen it destroyed many lives and families. My own family have experienced this. I have three sister's that choosed this life style of their own children. Luckily we got almost all their children except for three. They even got our mom strung on it to. We lost our mom to it for it gave her a massive heart attack. Glad you turned out ok. Live your life.

Thank you for sharing this story. I just lost a brother due to drugs and mental health issued. I agree with your advice but there are those who will never change. Regardless of how much you do and try if that person will not change or take your help then you will have to let them go.

You praise adoptive parents like they're God sent but the sad truth is, they're not. Your sister got really lucky. There are a lot of kids suffering from abuse and neglect at their adoptive parents hands.

Word of advice for this sister; Stay away from the Hmong community!!! You do not need to go back to your roots. You found your sister already, that should be good.

Sister, there is nothing wrong with adoption, it's better than abortion and neglect after birth. There are a lot of good people that does not have kids. Anyone can be a mother but not everyone can be a parent. Should have cut ties with your parents, they are bad models for you and your family.

Lady, you have a good story. Thanks for sharing with us. Recently May Vang also told another similar story. In that story both parents were bad, neither sides of family wanted the children, children were placed in foster homes. The lady in that story didn't appreciate the foster parents at all even though they raised her up to completion of college. Here you correctly praise the foster parents who helped your sister. Your ending advice is good. But don't count on anyone taking your advice. You couldn't even convince your own parents to get help. Not just in America, Laos and Thailand also offer helps. Addiction is not an easy fixed and addicted people usually refuse help. Your father got over it not because he chose to end drugs, only because he was locked up in prison. Your work now only works with children in drug. You don't have experience advice adults, so don't give us advice. Just tell story, not advice.

I work in benefits & medical claims and my goodness… 60% Americans use so much drugs! I get at least 2-5 calls about substance abuse calls and see so many claims inpatient/ outpatient. Thank you for sharing your story. Stay strong sister! 💕
