BIOGRAPHIES
Angela Sones was born in Sutton Coldfield and educated at Highclare School
and The Coventry Centre for the Performing Arts.
Angela began learning the organ at the age of thirteen with Barry Draycott and
went on to study with Andrew Fletcher and David Saint at The Royal
Birmingham Conservatoire, graduating Bachelor of Music in 1997.
Angela has performed in masterclasses with Adrian Partington and in Paris
with Jean Guillou, Daniel Roth, Sophie-Veronique Cauchefer-Choplin, Aude
Hertematte, Frederic Blanc and Baptiste-Florian Marle-Ouverard.
Previous recital venues have included St Chad's and St Philip's Cathedrals
Birmingham, Derby Cathedral, Howden Minster, Leeds Minster, Tewkesbury
Abbey, Bradford Cathedral, Newcastle Cathedral and Hereford Cathedral.
Forthcoming recitals include York Central Methodist Church, Shrewsbury
Abbey and an Organ Duet recital with her duet partner, Richard Hartshorn at
Kings Lynn Minster.
Angela held the position of Director of Music at All Saints' Parish Church, Four
Oaks for 27 years and is presently Acting Director of Music at Knowle Parish
Church.
Angela has a private teaching practice in Piano, Organ and Theory of Music
and is much in demand as a choral accompanist and recitalist. She is also
organ accompanist for The Half Circle Singers and Viva La Musica.
Richard Hartshorn was born in Birmingham and educated at King Edwards
Grammar School for boys, Aston. He studied Organ, Harmony and
Counterpoint with Dr. Cyril Christopher of The Birmingham School of Music.
He has played in several churches in the West Midlands and in Canada where
he was an Organist at Trinity Church Eaton Square Toronto. He was Organist
at All Saints' Church, Four Oaks from 1973-1989. He later returned to All
Saints' where he assisted the Director of Music, Angela Sones, for nearly 20
years. His wider musical interests include many years as a Director of the City
of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra.
