Professors John Haas and Angela Valenzuela discuss Critical Race Theory, racism, white entitlement, and the anti-critical race theory debate. They explain that whiteness came into being with the consolidation of slavery in the early to mid 1600s and is a relational concept that comes with an ideology of supremacy and hierarchy. They also discuss Texas Republican Congressman Tan Parker's 1836 legislation which is seen as an attempt to erase the history of people of color, and they agree that white supremacy is an outdated idea.
