I wore a cloak for years and got so many compliments on it. If you want to wear cloaks literally no one will stop you and everyone will support you. My guess for the reason they arn't in fashion is because people can't deal with children and groceries as well when your arms are encumbered by folds upon folds of fabric. You can buy wool cloaks made by seamstresses on Etsy but you'll pay the premium for the artistry and natural fibers as well.

I recommend Edith Head for the head block. She was a famous costume designer who worked from the '20s, all the way to the '80s and won a record 8 academy awards.

McCalls should work with you for pattern for that hooded cloak because omg it is so Little Red Riding Hood prefect! This would also be an amazing overdress for a simple underdress and petticoat! I could honestly see the whole pattern in a soft pastel satin over cotton flannel, or layered gauze for a fantasy look!

This is festive as heck! 😍🌲 the beaded waistband is mesmerising - it really does look like the pearls are attached directly to the fabric. I also love that this year's Christmas ensemble is green and ivory. It feels more relaxed than the brilliant reds of previous years, I think. Merry Christmas!!

If you put your pins in horizontally you can sew over them. So if you miss a pin it won't break your machine needle. That's the way my Grandma did it and she was one hell of a seamstress!!! Take care 😎😷😎

Beautiful. Incredibly creative use of ban-roll. Hair canvas and pad stitching can be used to shape lapels so that they will curve around the body, rather than being flat. Love this whole outfit!

My dream is to design my own gown, but for now my first was to make PJ for my daughter. I had a pattern not created by me, but computer had issues, so I tried to make one. Well did not work out right at all. So I think I will just stick watching your videos and dream that I can create my own gowns.
