Angelfish 1Just for the beauty of it - Everything you need in 3 minutes - Under Sea G On this installment of Under Sea G, we explore the world of Angelfish. These animals are some of the most attractive to look at under the water. Parents carry on the conversation. Juveniles. Queen Angelfish serve as cleaners for larger species of fish- picking parasites off the skin of larger fish to eat. This relationship gives the juvenile queen angelfish a natural source of food and can benefit the health of the larger fish One of the most beautiful fish families in the ocean is the Angel Fish family, and that’s what we are going to talk about today on Under Sea G. Insert opening There are around 90 species of saltwater Angelfish. Every angelfish species has different social characteristics. French Angels are outgoing and very inquisitive. Queen Angelfish are skittish and shy. Rock beauties are in the middle, they will not run from you, but they won't hang around either. Angelfish have territories that they patrol. G has never seen aggression displayed, but they do go and investigate anything that comes into their playground. Some Angelfish pair bond for life. If one of the pair is no longer there, the other Angelfish will live the rest of its life alone. Angelfish are omnivores, which means they eat plants and animals. Marine angelfish like to eat, algae, jellyfish, sponges, and small fish. Freshwater angelfish are more carnivorous. They like to eat worms, shrimps, and insects. Angelfish live about ten years in the wild. They can live up to 15 years in an aquarium. Angelfish can grow 2 to 24 inches in length, depending on the species. They have bright-colored bodies that provide camouflage in the coral reefs. Hang on I understand that you might see their color as camouflage, but these guys are so colorful they almost glow begging for your attention. If that is camouflage, then it is bright camouflage. Colors also play an essential role in their communication with each other. When Angelfish are babies, they look like small marble. As they grow to become teenagers, their large flat fins have long streamers on the top and bottom fin. As they continue to develop the angelfish loses the streamers as it becomes an adult. Marine angelfish inhabit warm, shallow waters of the Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian oceans. Angelfish are active during the day. At night they seek refuge among crevices in the reef and rocky outcroppings. As always never swim snorkel or dive alone, Never bother the wildlife. Only leave footprints in the sand when you leave. I hope you learned something today and every day! Click that like button and Subscribe to the channel, so you will know when we publish our next episode. We will see you next time here on Under Sea G

Excellent! As a grandmother of children just getting to the age to learn about the underwater world (as did their mothers with me) I want to encourage them to be ocean stewards. The health of our planet depends on our oceans. Thank you for making informative, easily understood videos for children. Very appreciated!

Thank you so much for those kind words. I'm thrilled that your family learned something new about the largest ecosystem on the planet. This channel aims to teach new facts to viewers about underwater animals. I'm so blessed to have an underwater support community that helps with this research. I recently returned from Exuma with film of an unknown shark. I took it to the Tennessee Aquarium, and we were able to identify this species. If you or your grandchildren have any questions, please do not hesitate to post them here.

@@underseag I was a single mother of two daughters and was determined that they grow up knowing different cultures and environments. I bought an inexpensive timeshare that I was able to trade for condos in the Caribbean. We went to different islands in the Bahamas and Caribbean for two week vacations every other year using frequent flier miles. People were always asking how I could afford such luxury. That “luxury” costs me less than $300 a year total…fees for resort maintenance, flights and exchange! It was a time before those fees became unaffordable. We got to know the people by eating in places most tourists would never consider, including in people’s backyards and little eateries in town. I would ask locals who had takeout boxes where they got their food. We got to eat real Caribbean/ Bahamian food at a fraction of what restaurants charged. I wouldn’t trade those trips for anything. When not meeting people we were snorkeling. (I have been kicked out of scuba courses due to chronic sinusitis so snorkeling is all I can get! ). My father was in the US Navy and I grew up in Hawaii, Gulf coast and Key West, FL at a time when all were still pristine and undeveloped. I wanted my children to experience what I had. I am grateful I was able to give them similar experiences. I hope they will find ways to do the same for their children. Thank you for making the underwater world available to children who cannot experience it in person. I hope you will consider doing the same for the cultures and land environments where those bodies of water are located. (I have not throughly explored your channel so maybe you already do!). My daughters learned firsthand how very blessed we are in the US. BTW, we are neighbors. I live on the NC coast while one daughter is in Raleigh and the other in rural S. VA. Many blessings this holiday season, Deb

That is a fascinating concept. Next season we will be doing a normal Under Sea G on an animal, and then I will follow up the following week with a true story of my interaction with that animal and lessons learned. Through the years, I have made many, many friends all over the world. If I could afford to grant the world one gift, the gift would be to take all children in the 4th grade to a foreign country. Let them meet the people, eat the food, and learn their customs. There are brilliant people everywhere. Their goals are usually our goals. Trying to be good stewards of our planet and raise the next generation. I am thrilled to hear your story and wish you continued success with your family. At the aquarium, a five-year-old asked me the most fascinating question the other day. "What is it like to stand on the back of a dive boat." My answer is a metaphor for my life "You can stand there and wonder, or jump in and know, I implore you to, go know." Deborah, you instill the "go know" attitude into your children and grandchildren. For that, I salute you. G
