I've rarely (if ever) utilized semicolons. I feel it tends to come up when grouping multiple disjointed phrasings within a premise...as opposed to grouping single words likewise. For example... List of favorite flower colors: Red, Blue and Yellow. List of visuals each color invokes within me: Red excites; blue sedates; yellow elicits a hot-dog craving. I'm conflicted as to whether I would even "and" the last semi-colon entry as it doesn't seem to flow well [visually].
