(10 Sep 2017) ANGELINA JOLIE "DOING VERY GOOD" AS SHE PREMIERES TWO FILMS AT THE TORONTO INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL
Saying she's "doing very good," Angelina Jolie made a rare public appearance at the Toronto International Film Festival on Sunday (10 Sept. 2017).
Jolie walked the red carpet at Toronto's Winter Garden Theater with children Zahara, Shiloh, Knox and Vivienne by her side. She came to Toronto to premiere the animated film "Breadwinner" as its Executive Producer.
"Breadwinner" is about a young girl living in Afghanistan during the Taliban regime who cut her hair and posed as a boy to support her family.. During the Taliban rule in Afghanistan in the early 2000's girls were not allowed to attend school and women were not allowed to leave home unless accompanied by a male family member.
On Monday (11 Sept. 2017) Jolie will also premiere a second film, "First they Killed My Father".
Directed by Jolie, "First They Killed My Father" is based on author and human rights activist Loung Ung's account of her survival as a child under the 1975-79 communist Khmer Rouge regime in Cambodia. The Khmer Rouge regime is believed to be responsible for the deaths of 1.7 million Cambodians from starvation, disease and execution.
Jolie shot the film on location in Cambodia -- the country where she adopted her eldest son, Maddox, after visiting as a U.N. Goodwill Ambassador in 2001.
Jolie has made few public appearances since "Vanity Fair" described controversial casting methods used for the film. She is also in the process of getting a divorce from Brad Pitt.
