Angelina Jordan Between Two Hearts Interview 2015

In November 2015 Angelina published a book: “Mellom to hjerter” (Between Two Hearts). At 9 years old Angelina Jordan became the youngest published author in Norway.
The book is based on Angelina Jordan's notes in her diary/notebooks and describes her meeting with a shoeless girl. "Mellom to hjerter" (Between Two Hearts) is illustrated by her grandmother Mery Zamani.
This podcast was published by Angelina Jordan’s publisher Cappelen Damm in 2015. In it Angelina talks with Erling Kittelsen, a Norwegian author and poet and friend of the family, about her book.
In between we hear small extracts from “Mellom to hjerter” (Between Tow Hearts).

At first I can see Angelina sitting down with Erling Kittelsen getting ready to have a conversation. I see her wide-eyed and very excited to do it. As they begin talking about the shoe incident all of a sudden I find myself on the street with the two girls. I feel Angelina's compassion and I know when the other girl looks into Angelina's eyes she sees the beauty in Angelina's soul. The electricity they both share at that moment when the girl puts Angelina's shoes on could light up all the lights on a city block. I know they wished each other well but I'm left guessing how each one of them felt in their hearts. I know the words exchanged told the story but what a heart wrenching moment for both of them. When their encounter came to an end did they shake hands? Did they embrace? Or, did they look deeply into one another's eyes and allow their souls to connect? My prayer is that someday in the future at an Angelina Concert, Angelina will tell the audience she has a surprise for them and will introduce that girl to the world! Oh my! Perhaps many people believe it probably will never happen because the girl's life is so difficult and who knows if she can survive with her other siblings. But, you know what? Angelina has been quoted as saying she thinks of that little girl everyday. Can you imagine how often that little girl (if she is okay, God Bless her) thinks about Angelina? You may ask, "If someone poses as that little girl now grown up, how will Angelina know it's really her?" When their eyes meet their souls will say hello to each other and there will be no doubt.

All the words we associate with Angelina are in this precious interview: empathy, love, heart, above all, she wants to be an artist. The word artist answers the mystery: how such a young girl can sing with deep emotions which she has not personally experienced. This is inspiring, to say the least. In many of Angelina's performances she goes to her beautiful world and has the power to take those listening with her too. This interview opens another window on that beautiful and precious world. What a wonderful and down right inspiring child! I can't help but place a comment I've made before because Angelina confirms it herself when she says in the interview,"Love is very....Love is everything." ...Angelina does draw me in and she makes me hear things in a peice of music I've never heard before. Every cover she does is a new insight into the music; what it says the story it tells. She opens a whole new world in each song and each time I listen to a particular song I hear something different, somerthing new again. I think the most amazing thing about Angelina is that when she sings a song she steps back and lets the music and the lyrics speak for them selves through her. Angelina is the servent to the music and not the other way around. Angelina is the only singer I have ever seen do this. This is how she percieves the work of Billy Holiday who is Angelina's greatest influence of whom she said sings with unconditional love. Love always puts others first and its self in the service of all other things even music. When I hear Angelina sing I listen and learn and enjoy.... This young woman has been working very hard to become the very embodyment of every letter of the word Love. Because adults live in thier own lttle bubble we miss what is so captivating about her singing which is we see and hear love; after all arn't we all made to be loved and to love. Love is the ground she walks and lives on 24/7. For Angelina it begins with the sacrifiece of a pair of much loved sea green boots.....The rest is history...Love. @@RobertDeMartin Aptly put. As I approach the end of life, I have been going through the books in my library. I became aware that my search for reason (to be) ends with Angelina. In the approximate ten thousand books I have read there is none as important as Angelina’s “Between Two Harts “ I realized that, within my seventy years of searching I had never found purer thoughts. I had never found another that expressed “The Reason”, and it came from a six year old child.

@@RobertDeMartin I live within the mountains of southern Oregon, and at eighty I am happy to have lived long enough to see Angelina grow through these last nine years. My only regret at this point is that she still remains an enigma. We know much but I want to know so much more about her inner being. What books are on her shelf? What thoughts are recorded in her diaries? When she sets on the edge of he’d bed at night what does she think about. I have a feeling that we have a young philosopher in the making. The other Norwegian girl emotes within her lyrics the essence of who she is. Hopefully Angelina’s published music will give us insights into her essence. They are both transcendent and will change the music world. If this does not happen then I would have little hope for the future of our world as we / I had hoped for. I had envisioned a world 🌎 populated with objective thinkers instead of people living there sitcom lives. I obviously spent too much time in the protective environs within the ivory towers of academia. PS. The other Norwegian is Aurora. I printed out all the lyrics I could find and was amazed.

There has to be something in the water in Norway which brings out the best in people and for two singers in particular. We can label the water bottles "AA" ! I'd be a smash hit! We can distribute our net profit to people around the world who have never had a chance to live a life with happiness in the form of giving them opportunities to work. We could establish a global network of shoe stores around the world. Not only could we put shoes on all the children's feet but we can provide thousands and thousands of jobs for their parents and other people in need. And, why I do think we would get all the support we need from people who would like to join the cause.

Well timed video, very well done. I heard the podcast, spent a long time translating it. This video will open this up to many people. This is not how we usually hear Angelina in an interview. Here she is so confident, even turning the table on the "interviewer" and posing questions of her own, and making sure that he answered in full! I hope this will encourage people to buy the book. How can such a young person write like this? It is published as a children's book, but I feel that adults have more to learn from this. I have never seen such a meaningful explanation of what it is like to be an empath. Of course, the last comment, "love means everything" - what more can be said...

There's a concept, typically associated with athletics, or any other human endeavor, called a "high performance moment" where the stars align and all the training, perseverance pays off for the best performance one can have. We all would love to get it even once. Forget about AGT, all the covers, the mesmerizing tone (how could you, really?) This young lady had hers on some anonymous street with another human being, not by athletic prowess, just by being kind and compassionate. If they were to do another Voyager program (showing my age), I would vote to send her story and music on the vessel on the off-chance some alien civilization could see the best examples of human beings and their art/culture. There's hope! Fabulous interview. Might have to buy the book. It'll probably be akin to van Gogh's correspondence to his brother at some future time. What's even more remarkable here is; while most high performance moments (especially in athletics) are planned for, trained for, hoped for...in this case, it just came spontaneously from a truly decent human being, who just happens to be single-handedly pulling Jazz, Blues, Soul music from relative oblivion. I mean listen to her intelligent, thoughtful responses in her dialogue with Erling, honest, equal, but still humble, respectful.

I hope people are not shocked by Ceci's use of that expression. It seems to be a common expression on the Iberian peninsula. My mother-in-law was Portugese, immigrated to Canada as a young mother, and she used the expression regularly toward her grandkids.
